For flood fording ability, it's not how tall the car is that's important, rather it's how high off the ground the vehicle is.

Other factors to consider intake height [and design], and ECU location.

The axle, suspension, and tranny can survive an ocassional dip as long as they are maintained properly.

    I'd expect APV type consumption... 8 / 10 from the 1.5 MT, 6-7 / 10 from the 1.5 AT, and 8.5 - 9 / 12 from the 1.3.

But according to old reviews from Autocar Asean, the Avanza has a really low 5th gear for acceleration, so it might not do quite so well in long distance driving.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I know that the Avanza will never be as frugal as a Vios. Its heavier, tall and boxy. But comimg from a Venture, doing 5km/l sometimes as bad as 3km/l, it will seem as frugal. Reading other forums, it seems that the Avanza 1.3 does about 10-11km/l city.

You're right. I was trying to say that its ground clearance was pretty high for a car. Not as high as pick ups or SUVs but higher than sedans. Thanks for pointing it out.

Nag inquire ako over the phone kanina sa Toyota Cubao about the Avanza J 1.3 variant. This Saturday pa daw siya available sa showroom.

    Other information I found out
    - 200 J units na nabili ng R&E Taxi
    - Puro white lang available. Sabi ko bakit dun sa launch Shangrila (as if nandun ako hehe) e blue yung J unit na nakadisplay. Di niya daw alam.
    - 4 seater lang daw, i asked kala ko ba 7 seater to? Yung 1.5 variant lang daw ang 7 seater. I forgot to ask kung i need to pay extra para lagyan ng 3rd row seats siya.
    - Puwede na daw ako pareserve, bayad lang ako ng P5k (refundable). Yeah right!
