Well, I guess that's why they shouldn't let Army people operate any sort of aircraft. Even UAVs.![]()
drones haha. manood kayo ng Act of Valor, yun ang real-life SEALS movie with real SEALS as actors. mayroon sila paper drone dun, wala din nalalagasan din sila.

i've been to Vegas, New York, DC, SF and some beaches sa California. I counted minimum of 3 jetfighters from above patrolling each city na binisita ko. dun nga sa SF inner bay dun mismo sa taas ng golden bridge, isang jetfighter ang naka-assign dun back and forth lng sya
that costs a lot of jet fuel. ganyan ka ready ang Amerika for war even at peace time. even if we buy those jets, i doubt if we can fly it 24/7 above.
one time nga in DC along the highway from Delaware approaching DC, I saw a A10 Tank Killer cruising low above ka-parallel lang namin sa interstate. and then some 5 min. in front, we were all stopped sa highway. takot nga ako baka yun mga mishap na nag pile-up that happens in US interstates. and then some 10 mins. later, I saw debris scattered along the highway pero naitabi nasa gitna and I saw this delivery truck in flames. take note ha, yun trailer cargo niya lang nya ang sabog talaga as in blown up pero yun truck mismo kung nasaan ang driver eh intact, there are 3 DC state trooper cars surrounding that truck, hindi pa nakakababa ang driver.
if I use my 24 aka Eddie Bauer imagination, baka may kinalaman yun A10 tank killer na yun eh, kasi talagang surgical ang strike nun trailer truck na yun, yun cargo lang ang sabog. but of course, announcement was accident daw.
a trailer truck with its cargo blown, a A10 tank killer, and the main highway approaching DC. - those are the given. pero walang media hype na kesyo may terrorist attack that day. pero alam ko nun visit ko code yellow ang US noon.
eh dito pag nangyari pati yun mga reporters natin may kanya-kanyang haka-haka, sabay wala naman pala gas yan binili nating jetfighter, fire prevention month lang pa lol

well they can afford to fight simultaneous wars, maintain carrier battle groups and military bases all over the worldive been to Vegas, New York, DC and some beaches sa California. I counted minimum of 3 jetfighters from above patrolling each city na binisita ko. that costs a lot of jet fuel. ganyan ka ready ang Amerika for war even at peace time. even if we buy those jets, i doubt if we can fly it 24/7 above.
they surely can afford to keep a few jets flying
US yan eh
can't compare Pinas to the US
dito getting a plane off the ground is already a big deal
*timrev, walang kwenta kung sobrang matalino tapos ill-equipped. tignan mo ang UP. that school claims they house the best of the best pero sobrang kulang sa kagamitan yun university na yun.
we blame our Govt. for corruption pero halos lahat ng nakapwesto sa gobyerno ay mga tiga-UP, the same people who attack the govt. during their younger times. tapos sila din ang nababago ng sistema.
mas matakot pa nga tayo sa mga nagbabait-baitan na matalinong sundalo o tiga-UP, kasi parang binary switch yan mga yan eh, 1 or 0. sobrang determined/ ma-accomplish, pag nawalan ng gana, they can easily turn to the opposite.

walang kwenta pag walang application/utilization
You have a very lively imagination. The US has been in code yellow since 9/11. As far as having a jet 24/7 above the Golden Gate they are not up 24/7 but they do patrol the area much the same way the Coast Guard patrols the SF Bay. That truck on fire is likely just another vehicle on fire in a freeway and the A-10 not the reason for the fire. The A-10 probably wasn't even armed. In this day and age of cell phone cams you don't think someone would have a video of that truck being shot by an A-10? Supposing it was shot by the A-10 that truck would be in pieces and not just on fire. Unlike the Philippines the US military can't fire on civilians on US soil w/o a Congressional inquiry because that order would have to come from the President.
I finally see what Pnoy did. Good plan. Use Scarborough to get some ships and aircraft.
Buying fighters and other military equipment is all well and good. But I think the money could have been better spent on building electric power plants. What good is having a somewhat modern military when the economy is crashing simply bec of lack of electrcity? Luzon and Mindanao are in electrical shortage yet the govt is not building power plants. Obviously we have the money. We can buy jets and contribute to the IMF yet we cant build up our power supply. Its the clasic case of dealing with whats infront of you and convinent rather than having a sustainable long term plan. Typical Pinoy!
Another thing that I wish the Phils can have is a fast train connecting the entire archipelago. Even Luzon for a strat will be nice. Othe rcountries have trains that go as fast as 300 kmh. Imagine going from Metro Manila to Baguio in about 2 hours. This with stable and cheap power supply will stimulate the economy. With a good economy, we will have mre money to upgrade the military.
Anyway, since its already purchased, I hope the govt can properly maintain these bad boys. Hopefully it wont be grounded for lack of fuel, training, maintenance, spare parts etc... Can anyone confirm what specs the TA50 come in? And did the PAF buy weapons for it?

DND chief says 'government-to-government' procurement deal more transparent
MANILA — Department of National Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin said on Thursday "government-to-government" procurement deals on the acquisition of equipment needed to upgrade the Armed Services of the Philippines is more transparent and less prone to corruption
The DND chief said the Philippines is in the process of negotiating such deals with South Korea, Italy, France, Britain, and Brazil.
He also clarified that South Korea's TA-50 "Golden Talon" fighter aircraft, a derivative of the F-16 "Fighting Falcon," is now undergoing evaluation for possible service at the Philippine Air Force.
Also undergoing feasibility test is Brazil's Super Tucano turbo-prop aircraft. (PNA)
I applaude PNOY for taking the first step.
while I was stationed in Yokosuka Naval Base, we heard that the Japananese Govt actually pays the US for staying in Japan. The same thing goes for South Korea. Latest data shows that in 2007, Japan pays the US $2B each year. True enough, I found an article:
United States Forces Japan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On the flipside, the US actually pays the Phil Govt for being in the Philippines. The last recorded negotiation was $1.2B, up from $180M a year. article below from LA Times newspaper as far back as 1988:
U.S., Philippines Remain at Odds on Rent for Military Bases - Los Angeles Times
$180M x PhP24.00 = PhP4.3B (back in 1990, PhP to USD topped at PhP24.00)

kahit US Army UAV operator sa Afghanistan, nag crash once a month kapag mag-land na...haha. more often, a damaged UAV was caused by operator error..lol.
merong UAV sa Pinas, yun nga ang yumari sa tatlong terrorist nung Feb 2012. Hindi nakalagay na armed UAV ang yumari. But believe me, it was an armed UAV. Those terrorists went to bed not knowing they will never wakeup again. I guess AFP's intel worked this time.
The question: was it a US military UAV operator or an AFP operator? (supposedly, US Military in the Phils only acts as military advisors and provides humanitarian assistance).

where I come from, Air National Guard flies F-16 and not an A-10. And no, they don't fly 24/7, but they are on "alert 5" 24/7, there's always a pilot standing by. The engine isnt running 24/7 either. They perform engine pre-op testing hours before the pilot's shift-change.Originally Posted by pop3corn
ganito ang pag defend sa territoiry
Syrian Arab news agency - SANA - Syria : Syria news ::
DAMASCUS, (SANA) – A military spokesman issued the following statement: At 11:40 AM on 22/6/2012, an unidentified aerial target violated Syrian airspace, coming from the west at a very low altitude and at high speed over territorial waters, so the Syrian anti-air defenses counteracted with anti-aircraft artillery, hitting it directly as it was 1 kilometer away from land, causing it to crash into Syrian territorial waters west of Om al-Tuyour village in Lattakia province, 10 kilometers from the beach.
The spokesman added that the target turned out to be a Turkish military plane that entered Syrian airspace and was dealt with according to laws observed in such cases.
ganun ba yun pero iba talaga eh, pag daan namin nun pinago na kami sa freeway, nakatabi na yun mga debris nun truck na yun. tapos nagaapoy na lang yun cargo. parang na Men in Black cleaning team bago kami pina-go.
2 days before kasi bago kami lumarga from NY to DC, may nagiwan ng lumang car na Times Square na may bomba. kung nasa US ka alam mo 'to kasi na-media ito eh. napansin lang ata ng hotdog vendor na abandoned yun vehicle na suv ata na luma, tapos puno pa la ng bomba. eh andun din kaya ako sa Times Square nun.
eh siguro d'ba ang terrorist kung umatake series of attacks, so malamang diversion yun sa Times Square pero baka yun cargo truck laiden with bomb. sobrang taka nga ako eh, sa movies ko lang nakikita ang A10 Thunderbolt, pero talaga na-recognize ko sya 2 pa nga eh, flying low sa freeway. ewan ko lang, kasi sobrang taka ako talaga as in sabog talaga yun cargo, yun steel na yun butas sa taas pero yun truck intact. tapos ang dami debris mga more than 200 meters away, kaya naisip ko precision missile siguro ang binanat kasi talaga buhay pa yun truck driver
guys may nabasa ako, sa statement release from department of national defense DND, hindi pa raw ito finalize. plano palang at wala pang contract.. mali yung nabalita ng abs cbn na mag aaccquire na yung bansa natin
DND-OPA statement:
To clarify some allusions created by a recent television news report, there are no contracts or agreements entered to acquire T/A-50s as implied by use of photos and graphics in the said report. Officially, your government is serious in its intent to empower your Air Force with jet level planes on a time frame of 'within the next two years or well within the administration of President Aquino.
We repeat, there is no agreement to purchase T/A-50s. Our technical teams are still surveying the best systems, technology and best prices - terms that we could avail.
Among the countries we are in exploratory discussions for jet 'abled' planes are: Italy, South Korea, France and the United Kingdom. Please spread and share this. We need your help to correct this allusion. Thank you.
let's wait for an official announcement from Def. Sec. Gazmin or Pres. Aquino. be patient guys, they are trying to evaluate which "one" is advantageous to us.
mag balita sila pag nadeliver na ang mga eroplano
nauuna lagi ang balita eh
