Max, Thanks for a very informative reply.

Galing ako sa Suzuki Caloocan nag test drive ako with wife and my youngest daughter. Ako nag drive and I notice that my left feet has no place to rest because of the wheel well. BTW test drive unit is A/T. Ride is very much improved because of the coil spring. Power for me is just enough but I notice that shifting is almost 3k RPM w/c stressfull for the engine. I estimate worst consumption is 6.5km/lt and Best maybe will be around 8km/lt. One more concern of mine is the flat nose of the APV it is very unsafe if accident may occur. Generally it is great but looking around the showroom I saw this beautiful 2door Jeep The Jimny. But it doesn't serve the purpose. Anyway we will probably will get the APV. and The Jimny (I wish)

sir larshell looks may be deceiving, pero the nose is intended to act as a buffer for additional frontal collision. i suggest 50% discount dun sa dealer na pagbibilhan mo ng jimny and apv ;)

    • tried changing type of fuel ( from 96, 95, 94 octane, etc......) - same result
    • tried changing driving habits ( tried driving less than 2000rpm most of the time) - insignificant difference in consumption
    • perfect tire pressure - same result
    • newly tuned up - same result
    • flat terrain / upward terrain - insignificant difference in consumtpion

the only time i got an improvement was when i decided not to use the aircon but obviously you can't stand the heat so you still end up using it.

my personal assessment based on experience re the APV A/T gas consumption? ------>

but generally the car serves its purpose except that it is really a guzzler!

We got the GLX Manual Transmssion 8 seater.
Ganon din kami naka tatlong dealership kami PILHINO, WHEELS Macapagal, HEIDELBERG (Suzuki Pasong Tamo) We got the best deal from Suzuki Pasong Tamo. If its a car loan I can PM you the details.
I strongly recommend the Manual Transmission, my bro. use to have the AT the APV type I version, it only does around 6 to 8.
For me the ride seems better than our 2003 AUV CR-V
    ==========
After months of looking for the right people mover to suit our needs. We have finally decided to purchase a SUZUKI APV GLX

    Here's why
    In order

    Very very Spacious
    8 seater
    Manual Transmission
Only 705,000 (nakadiscount kami by asking quotes from different dealership)
    20,000km free Periodic Maintenance Service
Appearance (Well to my Wife she says it looks good)
Sitting position is high. (Yup for my mon it's a buying factor!)
Good aftersale service (warranty claims etc.) and Good Sale Service Its our third Suzuki.
G16 Engine. Other see it as an old Engine, I see a proven engine hehehehe
Besides good experience kami nuon sa Engine ng Vitara.
No ABS (Not a big fan of this)

and Here's the list of other cars we strongly considered

Innova G or E. VVTi. Although within price range I still dont think its the best value for our money. Plus ever since Toyota have targeted to be number one in the world I notice so many complaints with their brand new vehicles. Also had a lot of bad experience with their service dealership (2000 to 2005) not to mention the snob attitude of sales agent of Toyotya Pasong tamo. Ganon talaga siguro pag nag number 1 ang company and consumer nakakalimutan hehehehe

Nissan Grand Livina. Elite ba yung Manual transmission? The culprit why we delayed our purchase hehehehe Rumors of this car will be doing some 16 to what km per liter made us wait. Good thing Livina owners here at tsikot are generous enough to give accurate REAL WORLD fuel consumption. (Thanks Livina Owners, much respect!)
At P848,000 it doesnt even have a foglight! The six speed didnt really matter. And like what AD says: DRIVES LIKE A SEDAN YOU'LL FORGET IT'S AN MPV. The thing is, we dont want a sedan

    After Few days of use:

Surprisingly am doing 8 to 11km per liter (500km on the Odometer). The eleven was achieve when we did a tagatay run with slow trucks blocking our way on the climb.
8 when stuck in traffic or if just waiting for someone inside the car. (Not very friendly to the environment, I know!) This is a manual transmission with 35 psi on all tyres

The space is really something! the legroom is not just a leg room but you can literally lie(Spell?) down on the floor!!

Theres not much to expect in Handling & cornering. So i really have nothing to say hehehehe

Audio Quality is good. Comes with Six Speakers. Although they should have not included a cassette deck. Kinda old, and who uses cassette anyway? Even senior Citizen doesnt use Cassette anymore!

The Beige interior is nice, coming from vehicles with black and gray dashboard, i think this one is a welcome change to the common black and silver. Except the carbon fiber effect on the middle of the dashboard, does that make me want to feel am driving a formula 1 car? hehehehehe

Ride comfort is good, absorbs the bumps really well. Tire pressure at 35 psi

Generally We Feel that we made the right decision, everybody is happy and all, but still like any other vehicle purchase We are keeping our fingers cross and hoping walang maging major problem. Considering pa that this Suzuki is More Indonesian than Japanese

Will try to update this haggang sa makuha plaka to give ideas on people who is in the same dilema

FC nya ok. its averaging sa 8kpl after 4th full tank.
    .... 1st 7.8kpl.... 2nd 6.9kpl.... 3rd 9.4kpl....
-always in the same pump- shell super unleaded.
    -always naka aircon yun.
    -35psi tire pres.
-stop and go halos lalo na sa busy hour.
-mostly 7pax. 3 is the least.

yeah, bike is good and good is bike hehehehe

    Update ko lang\\\

notice that the ride harap parang ramdam mo ang pagup and down ng sasakyan reminds me whenever I drive an L300 van.

Ok naman power mukhang adequate naman. (D pako mastado nalampas ng 3000rpm)

Gas consupmtion is still the same allthough i manage to achieve 12.5km perliter nuong nagtagaytay ulit kami.

Walang pala siyang child safety door lock, which i think mas kailangan since this is mailny for the use of family. ngayon lang kami nagkasasakyan na wala nito. How expensive can that be to put on anyway?

Wala din siyang beeping sound when you left the headlights open. again, how expensive can that be??

ARGH!!! hehehehe

Yung ibang plastic part sa loob parang may mga sobra, like them cheap toys from china!.

Unloading from the trunk is quite tricky because king mabigat binababa mo like a mineral water container malaki chance mo na magsgasan bumper mo kung hindi ka malakas. yung dalwang tindera manin parehong nagsgasan rear bumper.. Grrrr!!

Well so far so good at nearly 1000km

To all owner of suzuki APV did you know that..

The Mitsubishi Maven is an MPV sold by Mitsubishi Motors in Indonesia since September 15, 2005.[1] It is a rebadged Suzuki APV with minor exterior cosmetic changes, and is built locally by a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation.
It is available in two trims, GLX and GLS, both with a 1468 cc gasoline four cylinder engine producing 87 PS (86 hp/64 kW) at 5,500 rpm, supplied by Mitsubishi's Indonesian engine production partner, P.T. Mitsubishi Krama Yudha Motors and Manufacturing.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

had the same problem at first bt all i did was to buy a 3M non slip tape ( about 600-700 pesos). positioned it on top of the bumper area..............problem solved.........you just have to use a brush to clean it since it is rough.

no problem with APVs dual aircon................malamig. it doesn't take too long to cool the interior even left under the sun for a long time. even also if the car is full..........

never had a problem with the cooling effect..............more than enough. i seldom maximize the thermostat.............the normal thermostat position is only at the start of the blue mark.

i discovered recently something about the battery of the APV.........it is a lot smaller than a 1SM battery. according to the APV casa, it can only be bought from them at around 8-9k.............another revelation is that it is not maintenance free.........so you better make sure you check the water level every now and then.............. this was my mistake...........i am used to having maintenance free batteries in my cars so when my wife noticed that the APV doen't want to crank, i immediately checked the battery and to my surprise, the battery is soooooooo dry! my mistake! i thought it was maintenance free! i immediately bought battery H2O and used it for about an hour without turning off the engine. it happened about 3 months ago and until now, the battery seems to be ok............have not tried checking with the local motolite store if they have a battery similar to that of the the APV. but i regularly check the water levels now........

I think its reverse polarity with small post same with Jimny

Naging problem ko iyan with my Jimny. Wala akong mahanap with local brands (Sabi ng iba meron daw motolite) Ginamit ko muna yung sa APV hehehehe pareho sila. I ended up buying GS brand Battery d tubig. P2600
    in Banawe

and the aircon is cold. hindi ko na masyado binubuksan 2nd aircon.

My only concern is na pag kinailangan iservice 2nd row aircon is mukhang malaking trabaho.

    sir max,
i plan to get an mpv glx type 2, 8 seater, m/t before the year end and i'd like to get the best deal i can get from different dealerships as well as the best after sales service. i'm acquiring it thru a car loan scheme and i'd very much appreciate your inputs and if its not too much to ask, may i also ask the freebies you got. thanks in advance!

daycode, we seem to have the same time table for acquiring an apv, if its ok with you, lets exchange infos about the offers we will get from different dealerships and we can also negotiate together so we can have stronger bargaining power. this is just a suggestion, i would understand if you turn it down.
