March 9th, 2012 08:10 PM #1212Hi! I had no idea about speed ratings before, ngayon ko lang nalaman yun.
Stock Tires: Bridgestone Techno 248 185/80R14 91S -- Recommended load at door jamb, recommended speed rating (180 km/h)
Replacement Tires: Kumho Radial 857 185R14C 108Q -- Higher load index, lower speed rating (160 km/h)
How about yung handling at highway speeds?
Other observations after tire change: Less road noise, better ride
Fuel consumption is still the same. Acceleration was a bit slow during the first few weeks but now okay na din.
Thanks!

right.. better be safe than sorry i would say... better change those thin worn tires sir.
as far as i know regarding the tire specs that you have (kumho) ok na din yung replacement since you are still within speed limits and better load handling of the tires.
i recently changed my steelies to 17s with westlake tires 50 series and got the same but more "quiet" ride.. big reduction din on that "umuuga" pag naka park then a big truck or van passes you by and makes your whole vehicle move because of the wind.

March 11th, 2012 01:04 PM #1214Thanks sir!
Medyo natakot ako sa date ng tire dahil nakalagay "1807" which means gulong niya ginawa 18th week of 2007.
Tapos what is the difference of laden and unladen tire pressures?

Laden pressure is the tp when the unit is fully loaded. Unladen tp is used when the vehicle is not filled to capacity.

March 16th, 2012 02:49 PM #1216Thanks sir! I changed the tire pressure to 32 front and 40 rear with aftermarket tires (Recommended for stock tires: 29 F/35 R unladen, 32 F/44 R laden). So far I'm experiencing better gas mileage.
Last week ayos pa eh. I'll try to bring my car to Suzuki hopefully next week if I have time. Mukhang actuator ang sira or yung power door lock mechanism.

March 21st, 2012 01:45 PM #1217Need to replace our tires ( Original pa since 2005) since manipis na. We tried using 17s dati but it was too heavy and matagtag...went back to original to avoid damaging suspension. Now we are thinking of replacing again the rims to at least 15s and para naman may konting porma. Any recommendation what brand of tires we can use and where we can get a good deal on Magwheels. Most of the time city driving lang (coming from Skyway) and at least once a year of out of town.

you can try ROTA or.. if you prefer a softer ride.. try those original mags from importers from japan... (second hand)
I was told that those mags are quite softer so it will be a better ride for your van.
im on 17s right now.. PDW mags with westlate 50 series 215 tires.. definitely a softer and more quiet ride compared from my old steel rims.
