obviously, bias ako , but since this car may be coming to RP soon, just a quick preview. hopefully they'll price it right and properly support subarus sa RP. if so, it may give the RAV4s, CRVs, etc. a run for their money, it'll certainly leave them in the dust.

according to this, RP will be getting the 2.0X and the 2.5XT, wala nga lang yung Forester STi. heck, we don't get the STi, so why should you?

    Kwento ko lang mga bossing.

Got to test drive the Forester last Sat. Edsa, Ortigas Ave, White Plains, Edsa.
I wanted to take it sana to Katipunan para ihataw, pero company policy did not allow it. We were 4 in the car so I could not really get a feel of the power, sanay kasi ako mag isa o 2 lang kami sa kotse. Anyway here are my comments on the car.

    1. the interior has a very nice finish that is not too plasticky compared to compact sedans (exlucing the 2006 Civic), and especially when compared to the Tucson. Styling is very laid back, and not as stylishly cool as the interior of the new Vitara. Still, the classic look should look good for years to come.

    2. there are 8 cupholders!

    3. gotta love that 3 spoke steering wheel

    4. power was fairly good, it accelerated smoothly but was not as jerky as a Rav4 (2 liter, 4wd, lighter body). I guess fuel economy might be down from the 2 liter rav because of the bigger body of the Forester.

    5. I was shocked at the noise dampening properties. I redlined the Forester and no one in the car noticed.

    6. Driving the Forester was very comfy, parang nagdadrive ako ng Toyota Highlander which I really enjoyed driving from Chicago to Ohio.

Anyway, eto lang mga observations ko, pasensya na Im not a pro reviewer kasi hehe. For the price, I would take this car. Considering its competition:

    Suzuki Vitara
    Toyota Fortuner
    Mazda Tribute
    Honda CRV

The Vitara and the Fortuner should give the Forester a good challenge sa sales charts.

I just wish I could take the Forester out to the back roads of Batangas. Going around Ortigas center wasn't really much of a test drive

MAy naka drive ng Forester 2.5 XT dito? Comments naman

    Hi everyone,

I'm currently thinking of getting either a Subaru Forester XT or a Santa Fe CRDi. I've found a lot of information and user feedback on the Santa Fe but can't seem to find much on the Forester.

Test drove both and I prefer the Subaru .

Are there Subaru owners out there who'd like to share their experiences with their rides?

    Thanks all.

My cousin's had a Forester 2.0 for 2 years yata. Sabi niya super reliable daw at super galing ng handling. Matipid pa daw siya for a 2.0. He recommended the 2.5 Turbo over the 2.0 though kasi daw sayang lang yung handling sa 2.0. hehehe. Tsaka konti lang daw ang difference sa fuel consumption.

The only negative I've heard so far regarding it is the cramped leg room at the back which I can't attest to yet since I'm still waiting for the new CRV which is my alternate.

my brother has the current 2.0 variant for the forester. i have to agree with the decent handling comment. for a wagon it feels light and the road noise insulation is pretty good as well. ride feels solid(similar to a mid sized jap like accord).

i've had my Forester XT for over a year now, and after 38K miles, napapangiti pa rin ako whenever i drive it.

positives: it's quick, it's fast, corners well, comfortable, reliable, has great visibility, safe, has all the utility you'd want or need, great in inclement weather (especillay rain and snow)...it's also easy to make even quicker and faster.

negatives: it is a gas guzzler, not for tall and big people, spongy brakes, it's not pretty.

oh, one more thing, it has similar or better ground clearance than any small SUV's out there. so don't let its appearance fool you. it'll do well in flooded areas...within reason of course.

    good luck!

First off i have an 06 USDM FXT.. after driving it for a year now here's my review of the FXT so far..

    Pros:
2.5T Boxer (same as the WRX but not the same block as the USDM STi anymore)
Symmetrical AWD (for me this is the best but don't quote me on this though)
Ultimate SLEEPER (few drivers out there know how capable this vehicle is)
Reliability (as most subies are "recall free" again don't quote me on this)
    Quality (Build & Engineering wise)
Handling (better than your so called SUV's out there remember this is an Impreza based "tall" wagon & be ready for slight understeer)
Acceleration (even with the 4EAT tranny im pretty pleased with it)
Safety (5 star crash test ratings) Safety Ratings Safety Rating 2
Sunroof (damn i love that big sunroof)

    Cons:
Suspension (a tighter suspension would be great like the one in the STi version)
Stock tires (i don't like the stock tires as they tend to be very whiny in certain conditions)
Backseats (not very comfy if you have a big family or have kids but i think they're ok for an average "asian" size)
Steering ( a quicker steering would be awesome like the one in the STi but i guess that's just me)
Wind Noise (well what do you expect with pillar-less doors)
Paint (most subaru paints are not that awesome)

What's good with Subaru's is most of their cars share the same platform and parts.. with the 04-07 Forester you can share virtually any parts from the 02-04 WRX/STI as the 05 and up STi has a wider track and diff lug pattern.. but otherwise everything just bolts right on to the FXT with minimal to no modifications needed.

well this is "only" from an FXT owner so whatever decision you'll make goodluck..

Subaru Sales Video<<-- this maybe a little bit biased as this is a video for sales persons use only

Any of the two would have been great being Global models. But being a hi-tech diesel lover that i am, i prefer the SantaFe CRDi especially when chipped, its power can be unleashed. 180Hp/395Nm of adrenaline rushing pulling power.

At 150Hp/335Nm (stock power) of SantaFe, heck, i enjoy driving it every time. Even a BMW 325i E46 with its screaming engine didn't win against me from katips to marcos hway (until i stopped to have a fuel fill). hehe.

The best part is the meager fuel consumption. I know FXT must be fast but the petrol consumption bothers me a lot (since i'm a scientist and volunteer marine environmentalist).

Anyway, good luck on your SUV purchase :-)

used to be in the same shoes, but ended with Santa Fe to cater to the family needs.

Forester XT is the best when your single and if u have a small family.
