I wish. 1.7 actually including insurance. Yup the new one will probably go over 2 with insurance. I am sure the new one will be faster and more economical. By how much remains to be seen. 275-hp ba, I read 250-hp elsewhere. Anyway madali naman I-match yung 275 with exhaust and tune upgrades but that's for a later day. My concern if I where a buyer would be the CVT - sure it makes the car more economical but how long will that steel belt last, how robust is the technology especially for AWD, high hp application?

At that amount sir, i'll probably go for the santa fe, if its going to be my only car. Not that i dont like the fxt, but the practicality of the extra seats over performance will probably win me over.

I was dead set on getting the new Santa Fe after I saw one on the road - it is a handsome vehicle. However I was disappointed with the feature level. No side/curtain airbags, no moonroof, no sat/nav, no cooler, other things which the 300T- cheaper outgoing model had. It had keyless start and turning headlights though which are nice. The biggest letdown for me was the 3rd row seat, ingress & egress to which is challenging to put it mildly, and once seated it is claustrophobic. Parang pinwersa yung 3rd row. Bottom line I guess is if you want diesel power and all it's benefits, go for the Sta. Fe.

That's why it is "the pretentious 7-seater santa fe" because the 3rd row are for kids and midgets and you almost lose all luggage space if you use it. i was also very disappointed with the feature level when i looked at in person a few months back. the dash and center console somewhat resemble a tucson. i was looking at a phdm 4x2 * Php1.8m almost. i dare not look at the 4x4 coz it costed around 2.250m and i dont want to go to the grey market. The driver seats are manual, the dash gauge is less fancy than the 4x4. no moonroof, no HID, fabric seats, i was not impressed at all for the price of 1.8m that one have to pay. Then came this new forester. Although there's no pricing yet, for an estimated price of 1.9m, you'll get all the bells and whistles that subaru has to offer. im sure it'll include leather seats, hid, moonroof, automatic liftgate, 10way harman speakers, and all wheel drive!! and lucky if it also has eyesight. for the car nut like me, the most important is the 2.0 direct injection turbo engine with 275hp!!! you also get a CVT so if you are not gunning it, im sure you'll get an FC of 10km/L in hiway at least, and 8km/L combined, the smaller displacement engine helps. and when you need the power, you can gun it anytym, to hell with FC!! i dont know where i can use the new "X-mode" feature yet, but it is a nice thing to have when you need it

Looks like you just answered your question.

For those wondering about FC, check this out: http://www.************/2012/11/offic...-forester.html. The claimed FC figures makes me wonder if someone at Subaru smokes weed:

Subaru rates the Forester at: 15.2 km/L for the 2.0 i-L and 13.2 km/L for the 2.0 XT and fulfills 2015 Japanese fuel and emission standards.

Whoa. Even the XV, which is lighter than the new Forester, doesn't do 15.2 km/l.

Hello! I was in MI-Greenhills earlier today for a PMS and they had units on display already. They have 2 variants - 2.0i-L (non-turbo) and 2.0XT (turbo). The latter looks really dressed up and has an automatic tailgate.

To each his own opinion.. We have both FXT and TOTL KDM SF3, long run I rather have the SF3. The forester is fast and I hope the new one does have better FC - my only gripe. My current FXT with light mods only gives me about 7.7 to 8.3km/l city driving. If you want the FUN and work the pedal you get a significant gas guzzler. If fuel is not much to be an issue the FXT is the one for you. Nice interior, ride and fuel consumption, I will go with the SF3 anytime even if it were the lower model. The Forester Has a rather bland yet no non sense interior which i like, but hard plastics adorn it, except the new forester. The 3rd row seats are great to have, we don't use it at all. But having a jammed pack FXT is no fun regardless if it has the turbo as it has less torque and hands down to the SF3. If you have a family with lots of kids, get the SF3; taller and healthier kids, buy a van. If price range wise your budget is 1.9 and don't mind FC forester is a win, minus extra occupants. I only wish the SF3 has the power tailgate, but really I do not mind. If you are single or has an inclination to spirited driving get a sports car. Setting up a forester is nice, but the beauty sacrifices comfort. There are folks I know who went back to stock with their forester, the ride is great when stock. Yun nga lang Porma factor damn... Consider it the average looking with a big tool. Hehehe.. That is why I love my forester on the road with rice racers, it is sometimes a stealthy stunner.

For lower SF3 models with the bells and whistles check the grey market, it should be in that range 1.8 to 1.9.

Back to main topic. The new forester looks great.

Desmodeci, if you have the previous FXT model. Set it up it has a grunt look plus it is fast. But hands down the new forester is better looking. If it were a civic I would go with the FD look anytime.

Ganda nung bagong XT, side profile, rims and back. Medyo off lang un grills, pero baka mas maganda na sa MMC ng model na to :D

OT : Motor Image in Balintawak?! Wondering if they'll put it up to replace the former Kia North Edsa branch. That place is perfect for servicing heheh.

Yes sir ganyan price ng XS and XV base model prior to this news. i was just surprised na off yung majority prediction about sa pricing ng 2014 base model which is around 1.5M, above the price of both variants of the smaller XV. i think medyo same with the XT which was expected to be 2M more or less. pero malay natin, afaik sablay din minsan press releases ng MI.

OT: dapat lang mag open naman sila ng branches banda north ng metro where im from btw, puro south sila eh, i.e. BGC, Alabang kahit GH parang south na rin yan.

titan is correct. Me too, in the long run I will get the SF3 over the FXT... I have 3 kids, and my daughter sits in the middle.. Mas comfortable daw sabi ng daughter ko ang SF3 kaysa sa Fxt ko... Dami pala tayong combi FXT at SF3.. May isa pa alam ko ganito ang lineup ng kotse..
