yup that was uncalled for...IMO, Darchinyan was robbed. i think he did more than enough to win the fight. Z should work more on his conditioning coz he just does't have enough juice to KO the top guys at the super flyweight division. what's odd is that the filipino scored it for Vic, the Thai for Z and the Kiwi judge scored it a draw...hmmm

February 9, 2008 - Bernabe Concepcion retains his NABF super bantamweight title against Juan Ruiz from Mexico.

I was pissed off by the referee's inability to take control of the fight. the commentators hit it on the head when they said that Ruiz was fighting with three fists. he tried to show some semblance of control in the 12th round but by that time it was way too late...

contrary to most people's opinion, i think Concepcion did just fine. any other 20 year old fighter would have buckled when faced with Ruiz' bull rushing and dirty boxing tactics. BC was held to the ropes most of the fight but he showed his maturity by covering up to avoid any serious damage. He was also sticking his jabs and was able to land his power shots from time to time. Although he showed signs of fatigue in the latter part of the fight, his punches remained crisp till the end...

Overall a good win for concepcion. he gained tremendous experience in this fight. yes, he did not KO Ruiz but it was a tribute to Ruiz' game plan and durability than anything else...

yup pavlik won via unanimous decision. kelly peppered taylor's face the whole night. he threw and landed twice as many punches as taylor. while taylor had flashy combinations of his own, it did not have any effect on pavlik and was too few and far between.

try to catch the mijares - navarro undercard too. i just love watching mijares. navarro is a good fighter in his own right but was clearly outclassed in this one.
