I'm sorry but I respectfully disagree. Stretching is good before engaging in any sport activity because it helps to loosen up the muscles and joints. It also works up any knots that one might have in his muscles. The kind of stretching is dependent on the sport. Stretching routines in tennis are different from badminton and racquetball.Lastly, do remember to strech AFTER the game and not BEFORE
so as to avoid muscle aches and injuries
I've been playing tennis for years and badminton for quite sometime (unfortunately, both on and off due to work constraints) and stretching the limbs always helps me to loosen up. Of course, there is the mandatory warm-ups before a match.
Peace.![]()
As for the racquet, you don't need a fancy one when you're just beginning. That graphite racquet would do. You first need to learn the fundamentals and memorize them by heart. Once you have good fundamentals, you can get a racquet of your choice. However, please note that some manufactures have specific raquets for singles and doubles play. For example, the Wilson V14 is an excellent racquet for beginners and for doubles play. The Yonex Carbonex series is good for both singles and doubles play.
There is also the "flex" factor. Some racquets are rated as stiff while some are rated as flex. The flex racquets allow a player to have more...snap to a return using moderate wrist action, as compared to stiff racquets.
There is also the weight. The weight of a racquet would become factor during long match plays.
