This refers to the backlighting used by LCD TVs.

At present there are two main methods of backlighting in LCD flat-panels: Cold-Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL) and LED (light-emitting diode).
All locally available LED backlit LCD TVs use edge lit. Unless you're buying a direct LED back lit, you're paying extra money only for the sexiness.

Maikwento ko lang: pinagpilian ko na sila...

manipis ang LED LCD, pero sa gilid lang yun, saan ba tayo manonood? sa harap di naman sa gilid....

ganun din naman, kaya LCD binili ko....

The good thing about LED backlit is that it instantly achieves full brightness (white) in just a matter of seconds. CCFL needs about 30mins, AFAIK.

Mura na mga LCDs due to the hype about LEDs.

yun nga. LED TV sila ng LED TV. LCD parin naman yun na LED lang ang backlight instead of the conventional ccfl.

Then there's plasma too. Plasma has excellent contrast ratio.

SR2,200= P25,000.

Bakit LCD ang binili ko kahit mas maliit siya? as far as i know, yung LCD, kahit sa pinakagilid ka na,makapanood ka pa, unlike plasma, kapag sa gilid ka na halos wala ka na makita.

    For info lang bro.
kaya yun, LCD ang binili ko....

nope, typically plasmas have better viewing angles than lcds. depende rin yan sa quality ng glass panel. pero my samsung plasma has no picture degradation whatever the viewing angle.

biggest downside ng plasma now is the power consumption compared to LCD/LED.
pero picture quality wise, winner ang plasma.
