Brother printer owners, could you give an assessment of their printers (quality and durability)?
Been thinking of getting a MFP (printer, scanner, copier) for a small office I put up with a friend. Right now we are using space from a serviced office provider. Brother seemingly has good prices. I don't know lang regarding the price of their ink cartridges.
Will be using it for office documents and marketing collateral.
Thanks!
Usually ...
Low priced printers -> Expensive ink cartridges ...
Higher priced printers -> Cheaper ink cartridges ...
Inkjet printers will clog up if unused ... Turn it on daily and print something weekly ...
sorry for the OT...
Sa mga naka Laser printer.
Nagbabara din ba sya (like ink jet) kapag matagal na hindi nagamit?
(matagal = 6 months++)
We have a Brother DCP-L2520DW Multi-Function Laser Printer. It cost us $158. Image quality for general print jobs (eg documents) are excellent. We don't use it for photos or images.
The toner cartridge that originally came with the printer was good for only a few hundred pages. We bought a set of two compatible Rosewill toner cartridges for $21.98. They're good for a total of 5200 pages. We bought them back in November 2017. We're still using the first toner cartridge up to now. No clogs, no smears, no malfunctions. If we still used an inkjet printer during the same time frame, we would have bought a significant quantity of ink cartridges with each set at ~$35.
I still have an old HP Deskjet F4180 inkjet printer where the print head is on the ink cartridge, just in case. But, I find it cheaper to go to Wal-Mart and print color stuff there.
Oh. We also went for long periods without printing. No problem. Toner cartridges contain something more like powder. There's no ink that will dry up and clog.

based from personsal exp - HP tumagal sa amin - 11yrs and counting. it's an AIO deskjet model.
If we talk of inkjets, Epson with CIS is my bet

i've tried all of them (ink based) canon, epson, hp, brother, lexmark basta sub 3K they don't last 2 yrs, 3 yrs max na yun, minsan nga 1 yr pa lang sira na, eto pa kicker... pag nasira tapon na, kase most of the time mas mahal pa magpa repair kesa bumili ka ng bago
So what should I get then? Bihira ako mag print, baka once a month lang or even less

Suggest you get those with CIS. mas mababa chance matuyuan ng ink kung di ganun kadalas magpi-print. I have a traditional 3-in-1 printer na de-cartridge. Hassle magrefill at messy. I don't think meron nga lang na around 3k.
^Thanks
Gusto ko sana may copier and scanner, kasi wala na halos mga shops where you can pay to copy or printWhat if I print just anything once a week?
brother DCP-J100 series. scanner-printer-copier.
about 6K !
get the one with wifi. sisi ako i got the non-wifi. the convenience!
the ink is voluminous naman. and also much cheaper than the HP 1300 series 3-in-1 printer ink. (< 400 bucks versus 1500 bucks).
ours since 2018. we use it at least once a week. hindi natutuyo. merong onboard cleaner program yata. bigla na lang nagigising.
when we were shopping for a replacement for our HP, i noticed the printers the stores were using. that's what we got. matibay daw, eh.
the L120 is nice as a printer. our workplace has one. and i am sure, we are a very heavy user.
HP deskjet printers in lazada or shopee are cheap.
hanap mo lang din is budget printer. i have 2 HP multifunction printers - 1 was over 13 yo na and still reliable kahit ink refills lang gamit.
scanner and copier functions still work. sulit sa projects ng mga kids.
the newer one i got last year is the HP 2130 model.
canon and epson based on my experience is maselan sa ink. refills are a trial and error.
print quality wise mas ok epson.
cheaper printers - canon ( i had a bubblejet series unit long time ago)
but for long term use sa bahay for normal print/scan/copy - i'd recommend HP. mahal lang orig na inks but if you find a store with good refills - t'll be ok.
what is considered mahal na ink? I have not bought ink in more than 10 yrs, so no idea about the pricing
HP - cheap printer, expensive ink. (Give them the razor, sell them the blades!)
Epson - has that annoying thing where the printer will literally stop working after a certain number of print jobs, after which you have to get them to a service center so this internal counter can be reset. Parang maintenance light sa kotse, except when this light turns on it won't drive anymore.
so the winner by elimination is:
Canon!
Canon and Epson both have models that use ink tanks from the factory, so no more need to get stuff modded. Haven't tried the Epson because of above mentioned annoyance, but the Canon also has a removable/replaceable print head.
Brother pa pala, but I have no experience with them outside of lasers so I can't speak for their inkjets.
