POLE POSITION again for Vettel! 1-2 for Red Bull... Looks like they did the best job during the long break...
Great Qualifying for Rosberg! Big improvement from last year. Hope it would translate to a podium finish. The Red Bull drivers stepped out of their cars 1 minute before the end of the third session, uber confident talaga!

Nice one from RBR and SV. Very dominant so far indeed. Kawawa lang si MS, he should retire na talaga, layo kay Nico e.![]()

Pero the first 4 lapped everyone!....
Red Bull and McLaren are in a different plane/class of competition....
13.1K:bike:
Alonso did a terrific job of getting out of e hole, and he led the first half of the race. His drive fully matched the pace of Vettel and Hamilton... But unfortunately, he and Ferrari used one too many option tires in qualifying, so in the last half of the race, he had to make one set of tires last 25 laps. Poor guy. That's why he got lapped later in the race... Nearly used-up hard tires.
Webber mucked up the start big time. Ended nearly a minute behind Hamilton and Vettel. A race to forget. Especially the part where he got passed by Button for third place... Button who'd also botched the start and fell to eleventh but who clawed his way back through clever tire strategy.
Hamilton and Vettel were in a class of their own. Vettel had the slightly faster car, but Hamilton had better tire wear and a functioning KERS. He attacked Vettel continuously through the last half of the race as they dodged and weaved through traffic, but he eventually wasted his front tires, doing so. He finished the race sitting on Vettel's gearbox, just half a second back.
They were pushing so hard they lapped the Mercedes GP cars twice...
There was more overtaking in the first three corners of e first lap of this race than in the last three Spanish GPs combined.

Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Monaco GP this coming weekend...may DRS zone ba? Doing it in the tunnel would be cool...

Quick Nick started from 24th. Since he didn't run during qualifying, he saved up all his option tyres. He was able to run longer stint on those tyres compared to the opposition. Compared to his teamate Petrov who qualified in the top 10 yet finished way down...
Funny how you were only allowed two sets of tyres during the 2005 season, compared ngayon where tyres on last 10-15 laps only...

The ban on off-throttle over-revs will affect RBR more than McLaren, because they seem to have a better map for qualifying than anyone else, meaning they've got more speed out of the blown diffuser than the rest. But... McLaren seems a bit reluctant on the new rule, so their relative pace to each other may still be the same.
Lower-end teams don't use blown-diffusers... so their pace relative to the front runners will be better.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Binigyan ata ng reprieve yung blown diffuser cuz the annoncement came too close to last weekend's race until Britich GP this July. I wonder what overall effect will it have on RBR performance. Pero HRT is going to protest at Monaco GP.

Hispania will protest in Monaco, warns Kolles
Sunday 22nd May 2011, 19:02
Hispania team principal Colin Kolles has renewed his threat to protest exhaust-blown-diffusers if they're used at next weekends Monte Carlo Grand Prix.
He has gone as far as to write to the FIA, threatening a protest if they are not banned immediately.
Currently, all the teams on the grid but Hispania, Virgin and to an extent Williams, are using the EBD system which blows hot exhaust gasses over the rear-diffuser, even when the driver isn't on the throttle.
This increases a cars downforce significantly, but increases the engines fuel consumption as the car has to use more fuel to create the same level of gas when the car is coasting, compared to when the throttle is fully depressed.
Kolles says this device is against the regulations and, if the teams continue to use them in Monaco, they will launch a protest with the FIA stewards, possibly resulting in disqualification of any car found to be running with the device, that, despite the FIA giving the teams a grace period until after the British GP to drop them.
"The only reason why we are not considering [a protest in Spain] is because we were not involved in any sporting decision today," he told the BBC after the race.
"It's clear that the other cars are illegal," he claimed.
"We agree absolutely with Charlie Whiting's view and, by the way, we are not the only ones who agree. I think that if this is not going to be stopped before Monaco then we have no other choice [than] to make a protest.
"You cannot influence the aerodynamics with hot exhaust gasses, you cannot influence the aerodynamics by any movement like gas pedals or moving devices on the engine, or whatever. So this is illegal and it brings the other teams a huge advantage," he explained.

ang galing ni S. Vettel, tinutukan ko yung last 4laps kung maka-overtake si hamilton, pero di siya nagpadaig....
what a race...napanood ko kagabi sa Abudhabi sports channel...
Congrats RBR team.
If HRT does protest, the FIA has no choice but to take it up and it can throw a spanner on Monaco GP...
Should a protest be launched, much of the grid could be disqualified, something Whiting refused to write-off but admitted it would certainly not be an ideal turn of events.
"I would like to think that that probably wouldn't happen, but one never knows. It is not beyond the realms of possibility. A protest is open to anybody as you know, then it will go before the stewards," he said.
There has been much speculation that the FIA's stance on the off-throttle blown diffuser came as a result of a complaint from a team, and Whiting has confirmed that this was indeed the case.
"We often do react if a team writes to us about something," he explained.
"They will ask us to circulate that correspondence in order to flush out what other teams might be doing. That was the case [in this instance], but the team concerned did not want us to divulge who it was."
