no offense but i think di maganda pinakita ng pdrf sa race yesterday. we were there for two days and may mga naaksidente. what did they do? wala ..just shut their mouths and closed their eyes. the right side of the track may kayod sa dulo malapit sa finish line. heck, they dont have a finish line till may naaksidente on the 2nd race ng street stock. what's this di ba? u call that being an organizer? briefing of the participants started after the aksidente on streetstock #2. again no offense but ...it sucks. hindi fit for drag yung strips yet tinuloy. no wonder halos lahat di umabot sa preferred time nila. bummer!
oh.. and one more thing (sorry for bursting out hurt and contempt) you pay for 1200 + 500 for the driver for 2 days and you dont even get a tent for god sakes. Reg starts at 10 am, elims at 1pm...nyaks ...este double NYAKS nagstart 7:30 pm. enjoy at night time kasi malamig na. next time if pdrf is an organizer...then be one. I apologize for bursting on this thread. sorry mods. just my 2 cents.
first race was our team's... vtec (kalikot makina --> halata naman) and big body corolla...lumamang na ang corolla but my driver said wala silang makitang or hindi masyado visible ang finish light. and there was about a quarter mile na pwedeng mag break... unfortunately di marunong organizers..hindi man lang nilinis ang race track...nag ala ipo-ipo ang mga alikabok and ayun the next thing you know ...bumanga at nag 360 dalawang auto. we went to organizers...no police report, no refunds, settle them on your own. is that what you call organized? dont wanna be blamed for accidents..after that sunod sunod na...what a waste of money!
at least we got our time!
Willie Torres scores 3rd straight Quick 8 wins
In drag racing, the most prestigious class is the Quick 8 heads-up
competitions. It is reserved only to the eighth quickest cars in an event. It is also in Quick 8 competitions where record runs are usually made. Winning in this type of competition requires unusual guts and skills.
Guillermo “Willie” Torres Jr., of Davao City and team owner of W-
Autosports, possesses these two qualities which he displayed recently at the Cebu Mayor Tommy Osmena Cup IV, featuring the Full Throttle national championship drag racing presented by Peak Summit Group and the Philippine Drag Racing Familysport (PDRF) held at the Cebu SRP Strip last October 28—29...
Torres notched his third straight Quick 8 win in a field of 10-second and 11-second qualifiers with 11.285 seconds as the slowest qualifying elapsed time.
He first tasted his first Quick 8 championship at the Davao “Hot August Races”, where he also posted his first-ever 10-second run at 10.780 * 131.58 mph. Then another one last Oct. 21—22, also at the Davao Speed City Race Track.
Torres squared off against high rollers from Cebu and Manila, namely, top qualifier David Lim (DGL Motorsports turbo Civic * 10.872), Pepi Santos (H3 Autoworks all-motor Civic EK * 11.038), Mimo Osmena (turbo Eclipse * 11.060), Alistair Patino (H3 turbo Civic EG * 11.148), Ferdinand Chua (ACR Civic EG * 11.201), Jerome Quizon (nitrous oxide-assisted Civic SiR * 11.231), and teammate Vanni Garcia (turbo Mirage Cyborg * 11.285).
Plagued with traction problems and qualifying only in seventh position at 11.284 seconds * 130.34 mph, Torres’ focused driving skills got him to faced off with Cebu top drag racer David Lim in the final round. His brain- draining launch off the line killed Lim’s quest for a Quick 8 championship win.
