"Jackpot" theory?
A part of me would like to jump into that conclusion but I've always thought it was lack of education.
Or maybe they're just making sure that one of their children will take care of them in old age unlike middle-rich income families who can afford helpers.
We'll never know unless we walk in their shoes.

second thoughts about the jackpot theory...
poor, uneducated people arent known to be forward thinking
making long term bets require forward thinking
if they are not thinking about the future and they keep making babies, that means they simply don't care about the consequences of having *** without contraception
it's classic pinoy bahala na attitude
bahala na pag nabuntis
they're horny, they have ***, they don't care what happens 9 months later
people like that do not plan to have a babies
they just have babies
it's biological instinct

We all must consider that for many of these people having babies are not the result of a deliberate and informed decision. In many cases, the lack of things to do in the evening is what make couples to do their thing hoping to while away the time. So one may say many babies are borne out of boredom. Even with the TV now readily available to them, most of the programs and ads tend to incite or excite them towards the same pre-sleeping activity.
Had they been educated more about their physiology and not been encourage by pro-lifers tendency to go for quantity rather than quality of life, people might be inclined to opt for a more responsible way of doing the same thing.
