Inambush nanaman pala ang convoy ng PNP at AFP na may dalang ebidensya laban kay amputa.

MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) - A police convoy carrying evidence on the Maguindanao massacre was reportedly shot at by unidentified gunmen Thursday evening along the highway in Maguindanao.

ABS-CBN's Jorge Cariño said the police convoy was hit by gunfire apparently from snipers while on its way from Ampatuan town in Maguindanao to General Santos City.
Cariño said 3 armed men allegedly shot at the police convoy, but no one got hurt.
Philippine Army soldiers responded to the shooting incident but failed to find the gunmen.
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Victor Ibrado, during Congress's joint session on martial law, said it was a convoy consisting of one 6X6 military truck, one police vehicle as escort, and several other vehicles which was attacked.
Ibrado said the convoy was carrying items recovered from the mansion of former Maguindanao Governor Andal Ampatuan Sr..
The convoy was led by Senior Superintendent Willie Dangane, Cotabato City police chief, and was in Barangay Labu-labu in Shariff Aguak when snipers fired the shots.
After hearing about the shooting, ABS-CBN's Abner Mercado also told ANC that he and his crew tried to go to the site, but they were also met by sniper fire along the highway in Ampatuan town.
Mercado said they could not see anything since it was dark, and they decided to retreat to Shariff Aguak, the provincial capital of Maguindanao.
Maguindanao was placed under martial law last Saturday two weeks after the November 23 massacre which killed 57 innocent civilians in an election-related violence.
A military spokesman in the southern Philippines said Ampatuan supporters could have been behind Thursday's shooting.
"There were no casualties in the ambush," Lt. Col. Jonathan Ponce told the Agence France-Presse.
"We have dispatched 4 armoured vehicles to the area to reinforce the policemen," Ponce added.
    'Why transport evidence at night?'
Sen. Manuel "Mar" Roxas II, meanwhile, questioned why the evidence on the massacre was being transported at night.
"It's quite bothersome that these evidences were being transported at night from Maguindanao all the way to - supposedly - General Santos... Why at night? Why not during the day? Was there an escort?" Roxas said during an interview on ANC.
"These are evidence to a very gruesome massacre that happened, and if these are not handled carefully, then the evidence could disappear, could be misplaced, and all of a sudden, the murder cases that would have been filed, or otherwise would have been successfully prosecuted, would not have been solved," Roxas said.
He said the Senate, during the joint session, asked for an official explanation on the incident.
"We asked for it [the explanation on the transport of the evidence] formally, so that that explanation would be made part of the report to the joint session," he said.
Ibrado also said he will consult security forces on the reasons for moving the evidence at night.
"I have to ask that same question to our transporting the evidence," Ibrado said during an interview on ANC's The World Tonight.
He also said the incident was not a major encounter.
"The way I look at it is that while the convoy was moving, somebody took a chance and fired upon the convoy. In military parlance, we call that a hasty ambush, [unlike] a prepared ambush wherein roadblock would be set up and all that stuff," he said.
Ibrado also said that they are more concerned about reports of different armed groups consolidating in different parts of the province. With reports from Jorge Cariño, Abner Mercado, and Ricky Carandang, ABS-CBN News, and the Agence France-Presse

It seems that the Church is clamoring for Martial Law in another part of Mindanao

Bishop wants martial law in Basilan too

    Philstar.com - Thursday, December 10

MANILA, Philippines – A Church official based in Basilan called on President Arroyo to also place the province under martial law to control and neutralize the Abu Sayyaf bandits and other lawless elements there.
Prelatura de Basilan Bishop Martin Jumoad said he is amenable in implementing martial law in the province to stop the prevalent lawlessness in the area.
"If this (martial law) is the only way to neutralize violence in our place, why not (implement it)? I hope Basilan would also be placed under martial law," Jumoad said, noting that the province also registers several cases of extra-judicial killings and loose firearms.
He said legislators opposed to martial law in Maguindanao should follow what the Constitution requires in deliberating on whether to extend or not the 60-day limit of the declaration. - By Dennis Carcamo (Philstar News Service, www.philstar.com)

lifted na ang martial law sa Maguindanao. backto civilian rule, ano kaya ang mangyayari sa susunod na mga araw....

Arroyo lifts martial law in Maguindanao

    INQUIRER.net
    First Posted 16:17:00 12/12/2009

MANILA, Philippines—(UPDATE 2) President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has lifted martial law in Maguindanao province, a senior Malacañang official announced Saturday.
“In view of the accomplishments of martial law and the suspension of the privilege of the habeas corpus under Proclamation 1959, the Cabinet has recommended the lifting of martial law and which the President has approved,” Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita told a news conference following a meeting with Arroyo and her Cabinet.
Ermita said the President met her top security advisers earlier Saturday and the meeting concluded that the government had achieved its main objectives in Maguindanao province, which was placed under martial rule on December 4 following an election-linked massacre left 57 people dead.
Ermita said there are five areas that became the bases for the President’s decision to lift martial law as contained in the joint report of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police.
Quoting from the AFP-PNP report, Ermita said:
    • Rebellion and multiple murder charges were filed against the suspects who are now in the custody of authorities.
At least three people have been charged with multiple murder and 24 others for rebellion before the courts. At least 247 facing multiple murder charges were referred to the Department of Justice by the PNP and 638 for rebellion.
    • Fifty-two arrests have been made for the charge of rebellion; 128 members of civilian volunteer organizations have surrendered, and 399 others in the custody of authorities.
    • Clearing of “rebel positions” in several towns in Maguindanao by the police and military.
    • That the criminal justice system was in place and working; and
    • Restoration to normalcy of the local government units, starting with the appointment of Vice Governor Ansarrudin Adiong of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao as acting governor

Never thought this thing can be well-abused and misjudged by people.

Loren really has nothing to do with the massacre in Maguindanao. "THAT PHOTOS WAS TAKEN FEW WEEKS BEFORE THE MASSACRE", and she was there only as a guest speaker for SORA. If ever someone else will have a shot with one of the Ampatuans, would there be an issue like this?

Basically, Loren was just being drag to this issue and her opponents were desperately making use of this.

    Wake up Philippines!

I just want to share with you guys the statement of Senator Loren Legarda regarding the Maguindanao massacre, i just hope from this we could learn and we could think that Loren Legarda does have nothing to do with the monster Zaldy Ampatuan..
Senator Loren Lgarda's statement is as follows:
I condemn in the strongest possible terms the recent killing of at least 21 people, including a number of women and media personnel, by unidentified gunmen in Maguindanao province.

While the full details of the Maguindanao massacre have yet to come to light, news reports indicate that this could be the first major election-related violence in the country.

The victims are said to be on their way to the Provincial Capitol to file a certificate of candidacy with the Commission on Elections. They were accompanied by media people who were asked to cover the event. They were waylaid by about 100 armed men and subsequently killed in a brutal and barbaric manner, with some of the victims even decapitated. The casualty figures could rise even higher to more than 40, according to news reports.

I call on authorities to fully investigate this incident and to bring to justice not only the perpetrators but also the masterminds as soon as possible. No one should be above the law. This is a heinous and reprehensible crime that deserves the maximum penalty allowed by law.

At the same time, I urge the government to put in place adequate measures to ensure honest, orderly and peaceful elections in Maguindanao and other areas where intense political rivalries could erupt into violence and bloodshed. The proposal to impose a total gun ban during the election campaign period is fundamentally sound and should substantially reduce the number of election-related violent incidents in the months ahead.

This is just a black propaganda against Loren..But the picture, hinde nya masisira ang strong character ni Senator Legarda.. Mabuhay po kayo Senator Loren! Go for the VP of our nation.

Maybe she is more than a butterfly to many presidentiables that’s why she is sandwiched in their tug of war. Maybe majority of local chief executives in the provinces are convinced that a tandem with Loren Legarda will make the chances of administration bet bloom like wild flowers in the polls.

Like a butterfly, Loren Legarda exudes a magnetic field to flora and fauna in the political arena. Maybe because of her ironed and principled nature as a person that she has always been lured to join from one party to another. They believed and respected the credibility and advocacy of Loren - that is the simple equation.

Now, that she is orphaned by the sudden decision of her party mate Chiz Escudero and presidential hopeful to bolt NPC, Loren is geared up like an iron butterfly to rally her party mates in the NPC.

In this time of uncertainty and adversity, we need a decisive and respected individual to lead this country. We need an iron butterfly that can pollinate the democratic vineyard and adapt to a changing environment not noisy buzzing bees swarming around to pollute the minds of the people and extract them dry.

E sino ba talaga ung tama?
