    Assemblers of this vehicle are mostly located in Apalit, Pampanga...

    I remember we were talking to the MVPMAP about the XLT during our meet with them before... it's a shame that this grassroots assembly program isn't better supported by the government, as the XLTs are a more modern alternative to the Jeepney.

    Yup it is really a shame but not surprising the XLT movement (like its counterparts in the other regions) has never been supported by the government.

    Inherent in its failure to progress further is also the lack of standard specifications and dimensions, which severely restricts acceptance and replication beyond its original area of service.

    If these native manufacturers are given government support (by DOST in metal fabrication etc.; BOI in terms of incentives; DTI in operations and marketing) I think their full potential can be harnessed.
