MANILA, Philippines – State Motor Corporation is investing P371 million for a motor vehicle assembly facility that will introduce, for the first time, locally assembled Chinese vehicles in the country.
The Board of Investments (BoI) has recently approved its registration making it the newest member in the agency’s Motor Vehicle Development Program.
State Motor, which is chaired by businessman Allen Roxas, will initially bring in completely built-up units such as cars, trucks and buses on its first year of operation.
It has partnerships with China’s major auto companies – Great Wall Motor Co. Ltd. (for the supply of cars, SUVs, pick up trucks); Zhong Tong Bus Holding Co. Ltd. (for buses); Yuchai Machineries Co. Ltd. (engines); and SAIC GM Wuling Automobile Co. Ltd. (for mini pick up trucks).
Great Wall’s car brands include Cowry, Hover, Florid , GWPeri, Wingle and Coolbear.
Its website states that within the first year of operation, it will build an assembly plant for selected models on a 2.3 hectare property in Balintawak, Quezon City.
State Motor is also fast-tracking the reconstruction of its future assembly plant located in Talon 1, Las Piñas City.
The facility will also serve company’s depot for its Great Wall Motors and Zhong Tong Bus lines of product. This will also house the showroom and service center.
In the medium term, a bigger facility will be required in order to accommodate future growth.
The company has already established some showrooms including those in North Edsa and Alabang. It is also in the process of setting up several service centers in the country for all its brands.

yeah even those chery cars located in libis and greenhills closed. kung dun nag-close yan na may mga pera mga tao, pano pa kaya sa ibang lugar

Nice looking vehicles! Maybe if assembled here, these vehicles will become sturdier and with more Philippine made parts like batteries, tires, upholstery, auto glass, seatbelts, radiators and cv joints for starters.

Hmm... For better build quality, can there be parts interchange with the Wingle and surplus Isuzu D-Max parts? Facelift, perhaps? Or a 4JH1-TC engine transplant?

Goodluck to Statemotors. Hopefully kayo ang maging reason for a big improvement in quality and image ng China cars. And sana lumaki pa kayo so you can eventually manufacture a genuine Pinoy vehicle.
