i was set to buy an owner type jeep for less than 80k pero my brother talked me to buying a multicab pickup instead (dinagdagan nya ng pambili). di naman ako nagsisisi. pero iba pa din ang dating ng extended na wrangler pickup, tamiya otj o kaya ford gpw (willys) na jeep. i am hoping to drive and own one in my lifetime. hehehe...
diesel na kuhanin mo para tipid ;)

Very nice. Reminded me of the time when me and my friends went out on a road trip in an owner type jeep :D

I like your OTJ. What is the name of the shop that assembled your jeep and how much does it cost to have one like yours (not identical, only similar to give justice to your own style?
I still use my OTJ as a daily driver. Already 10 years old and still run smooth. First engine was a Toyota 18R with 5 speed tranny. Paired with limited slip diff from a Toyota as well $ wheel disc brakes. Kaso nagkaroon ng issue sa rehistro kasi nawala yung receipt ng engine nung bagyong Milenyo kaya nagpa change engine ako from 18R to a 4g62b then installed a custom adapter sa intake manifold na ginawa ko. (im a machinist kasi) to house the 4k carb since malakas sa gas yung carb ng Sirius engine. Thermal-taped the exhaust manifold, And fine tuned the cam timing to meet maximum fuel efficiency without sacrificing a lot of power at top end and focused on the bottom end since i paired it with a automatic tranny para maiba naman. And up until now, Maganda pa rin yung takbo. As for safety, may 3 point harness seatbelt naman.
Unfortunately, almost all "talyers" in Cavite just discontinued fabricating OTJs. They are more into importing, rebuilding small vans from Japan. Most vans are Suzuki and Mitsubishi but quite expensive at 150k-180k. Old stock (unsold newly assembled) OJTs are priced at 100k but no takers..
Hello!! How much po ang pa assemble nito? Kung pure stainless po how much din po abutin? Can you send me more picture via email (jr_rozul*yahoo.com.ph) and contact number to call. Thanks a lot.

Sir Good day,
3. Mausok na rin sya, magkano kaya gagagastusin?
Toyota C1 Engine, 1993 Model, Diesel po yung OTJ.
Thanks..

Just thinking...
Is the Owner Type Jeep dead... or is it dying?
I personally noticed that in my last 2 trips to Manila, I've only seen 2-3 Jeeps...
Are brand new cars now too cheap (like the Alto and i10) that people now prefer to buy cars instead of building jeeps?
Or is it a safety issue? (jeeps are open)
Uso ngayon ang donor or base eh multicab.
There was a time when provincial roads were unpaved. If you lived near the sea, the salty air corroded car bodies. It made sense to buy a stainless steel OJT because it was tougher than ordinary cars.
Cars have improved considerably (better build quality, better rustproofing, better engine technology) and you have different vehicle types to choose from (hatchback, sedans, AUVs, SUVs, CUVs).
OTJs should evolve into something CUV-like: lighter, with front-wheel drive, better seating space and improved safety.
Here is a design concept based on Suzuki Alto mechanicals:

this thread is ancient, but...
all your comments are because the OTJ was assembled using surplus parts.
if the assembler would choose to use brand new components, then these nits would disappear. but the cost would spiral up.
the OTJ design is ancient. i am sure the design can be upgraded, to make it more comfortable, etc.... but somebody has to start the ball rolling.

I'm curious lang mga tsikoteer, do we still have OTJ fabrication in Cavite? I have seen one or two OTJ in a day in my stay in Manila. It's been a while since I posted here in Tsikot. Up lang natin ang topic.
