    Nice to hear that sir.

Actually as of today I still see alot of Anfra's running in and around Metro Manila and the provinces...

If there will be a candidate for the replacement of the Philippine jeepney or even the revival of a truly locally designed and made AUV, its should be the revival of the Anfra with a new design.

Holy rollers: Popemobiles from trucks to limos - CNN.com

By James Foxall, special for CNN
    March 14, 2013 -- Updated 1409 GMT (2209 HKT)

The high cost presents a challenge to host nations, especially impoverished ones. For his 1995 visit to the Philippines, local car maker Francisco Motors produced a Popemobile based on a 4x4. As it had to be built with bomb and bulletproof parts the local faithful contributed to the extra cost.

When John Paul died in 2005, this Popemobile was put on display in a Philippine church and became a pilgrimage destination for the country's Catholics who couldn't afford to go to the Vatican for the burial ceremony. It's probably the only time a car built in the Philippines has ever been worshipped.

No news coming from EMD Francisco who a few years ago said that they will revive FMC.

Actually all local assemblers (Japanese, Chinese) are having difficulty maintaining their assembly operations due to high production costs in the Philippines plus the availability of cheaper brand new CBUs.

A good example is the Toyota Avanza made in Indonesia.

Anyway, it will be a miracle if an all-Pinoy company like FMC and Sarao will emerge again to compete in the highly competitive Philippine auto industry/market.

The new e-jeeps are nice, but I doubt the government might accept that except in the provinces...

Filipino-made e-jeeps to hit Manila streets soon

Bigger, better, and all electronic, the Francisco Motor Corporation's new electric jeeps will hit Manila's streets soon.

Manufactured by the Filipino firm, the new e-jeeps are noticeably very Pinoy with its bright colors and bold designs.

The public will be able to get a glimpse of the prototype of the jeep during its launch on April 15, Sunday, 8 am, at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta Park. —NB, GMA News
Though a modern take on the Anfra would be very fine.

They have to take the opportunity to revive FMC Motors through PUV Modernization. They can still catch up with the players especially those expensive Modern jeepneys.

With the looming phaseout of traditional Jeepneys, one manufacturer is trying to preserve its iconic look while setting its sights on the road ahead. Francisco Motors, one of the country's pioneers in the Jeepney-making industry along with Sarao Motors in the 1950s, is creating electric Jeepneys that would still be worthy of the title 'King of the road.' What are the different designs and specs of modern Jeepneys our drivers and operators can choose from? Joining us all the way from Los Angeles, California in the U.S. is Francisco Motors E-Jeepney maker Elmer Francisco.
