Maliit lang mga classes doon. 6 to 10 students.Yes makaka hawak ka ng makina. kung bitin ka pa eh d mag request ka lang pag wala classes at libre ka to some extra time with the engines.

I was able to talk to a mechanic that has the same arrangement (I'll buy the parts outside) but his labor for a general overhaul is 7k. I don't know if he knows of a reputable machine shop though. As I understand, the craftsmansip (?) of the machine shop is crucial in the overhaul. I don't think I can negotiate/give instructions to the machine shop on my own since I know nothing about the technicalities Also, I do not have a repair manual. Does that come with the car?

I am just wondering why the guy at the shop said that my car doesn't seem to need an overhaul yet. I saw white smoke talaga but I think he said that it could be because of the oil/dirt that has built up over the years. Minsan kasi pag bago sa pandinig ko yung terms nalilito talaga ako. hehe. Manipis din yung white smoke saka wala naman pag hindi inaapakan yung gas. May tubig din na lumalabas sa exhaust.

DO you know of any shop in Makati/Paranaque that can do the compression test?

Ok lang ung 7K na labor pro hanapan mo naman sya studies sa technical,
mas maganda ang mechanico kung nag aral sa tech school, kasi alam nya un theories at meron syang practical experience, mas maganda kung maka pirate ka ng mechanic na sumali sa skill olympic ng toyota. Meron ako kaklase, nanalo sa skill olympic ng toyota, sya pinag overhaul ko ng engine ko dati at umayos naman makina namin until na benta na ang sasakyan.

Kahit kumakain ng langis ang makina mo, hindi pa rin sya iingay pero papalag sya (pag malakas na ang kain), maaring ang ingay na sinasabi mo ay sa muffler at ung nginig eh sa mga engine support.

Correct mo muna ang support ang check ang muffler before proceeding sa engine.

Pero kung malakas na bumawas ng langis malamang eh may problema na talaga yan engine mo.

Pa load balancing mo sa mechanic mo (tatanggalin ang wire sa plug isa isa para malaman kung alin ang mahinang cylinder) tandaan mo ung mahinang cylinder, tapos pa compression test mo to verify.

Mag tuloy ka na sa kawit, cavite lagpas lang ng aguinaldo shrine, meron dun cruven. Trusted ko ang lead mechanic dun at meron cla timing light and compression tester.

haay naku sakit lng ng ulo yan pa overhaul na yan ang dami mong intindihin as in! sino gagawa? magaling ba? marunong ba gumamit ng mga panukat? maibabalik ba sa tamang clearance at tolerance etc etc. mga pyesa anu anu ba? branded ba o hindi? anong clearance dito anong clerance dyan? alam ba nya yun or tyamba tyamba lng hindi plug and play ang mga pyesa ng makina lalo na pag nagbasa ka ng mga automotive books para maayos take note dapat mga degrees at mm.

ang nakita ko lng magaling magoverhaul tlaga ay yun mga nsa shops na nasa states na nafefeature sa mga cable chanels talagang down to the last detail yun lahat sinusukat at ikinakabit ng maayos. pag dito sa pinas ang mga gumagawa lng nyan ay yun mga high end shops na sobrang mahal manigil.

inoverhaul nga oto ko halos 20k nagastos ko after 6 months pumupugak na. buti pa itong surplus na nabili ko 3 taon na ayos pa at 17k lng nagastos ko from then on sinumpa ko na mga mekaniko!

Huwag naman lahat ng mekaniko, baka naman hindi mekaniko napuntahan ninyo.

Yung luma kong mekaniko e seraniko yata. hehe. Ngayon pati yung shocks na kinabit niya mukhang may problema. hehe. Worry ko yung timing belt. Kapag palpak yung kabit malaki ang effect sa engine???

Pag mali kabit ng timing belt maaring 1. hindi umandar ang makina or 2 Magkabanggaan ang mga piston at valves at magkaputol putol ang camshaft. or 3. MAgkabanggaan ang mga piston at valves at magkaroon ka ng flat lobe sa camshaft.

How can I check if the timing belt was installed properly? When I brought the car to the Toyota Specialist Shop (2nd opinion), they didn't comment on the timing belt naman. If my old mechanic forgot to install the pulley when he replaced the water pump, it could mean that he's not used to that type of job. All the more with the timing belt e ginalaw din niya yun. DI naman kasi mabaho yung exhaust ng car ko before. Sabi din ng Toyota Specialist may maling adjustment na ginawa yung seraniko ko kaya naninigas/sumasabit yung gas pedal ko. Buti inayos na nila. Akala ko yung matting lang ang sumasabit. Yun pala naninigas talaga. hehe.

paging surplus shop peeps na tsikoteer alam ko meron dyan yooohooo... assist nyo nlng kaya ito salpakan nyo ng 20 valve, bigyan ng magandang discount at warranty.

Hindi pa kasi masyado aware mga tao sa short block replacement o change engine agad na approach. Puro siraniko kasi ang mga visible sa mga tao.

Yung mekaniko ko yata supulterero dati na nakahawak ng screw driver. Nagkalat na talaga mga mang boy. Ako naman parating nabibiktima. So what does that make me? hehe. Sana umabot ako sa Feb 25 (enrolment sa MFI)

para sa akin pag di ganun marunong yun may ari gaya ko dati change engine ang safest tapos checkin nlng maige nun nagkabit yun status ng engine before and after ikabit. and she is good to go! ganun kadali hehe

Specialty din ba ng cruven ang overhaul? Ni recommend kasi sakin yung Sucat branch para sa shocks ko. Mali kasi ata yung kabit/gawa ng seraniko sa shocks ko kaya mas lalong naging matagtag. hehe. Literal na masakit pala talaga sa ulo pag luma na auto. hehe.

no worries. i also have problems with my civic, sort of similar tayo ng engine issues. mine was loosing engine oil...with white smoke.

Kapag ba kailangan na ng overhaul yung engine pangit na yung kulay ng langis? I just checked the oil a while ago and it's still on full. Saka hindi naman maitim. But it's still too early to tell kasi 100 kms pa lang tinakbo since I had the oil changed last Feb 10.

I did a stupid thing pala. When I first checked the oil, I started the engine, pinatay ko tapos saka ko chineck yung level. hehe. Lumabas low kaya dinagdagan ko ng 3 liters. Pag d Dapat daw pala pag umaga pag hindi pa nagagamit at naka settle pa yung oil.
