this is one of the best looking korean-made vehicle i've ever seen.. It now boasts of a daimler-chrysler/mercedes-benz sourced inline-5 2.7 common rail diesel engine with VGT, output has increased from 165 ps/4000 rpm to 186 ps/4000 rpm, also with the torque now from 335 Nm to 401 Nm/1600-3000 rpm. suspension has also improved with the rear suspension now having 8-link suspension which will make this SUV a sedan-like ride.. will try to take pics of it when i go to ssangyong e. rodriguez tomorrow.. i think the price is hovering at around 1.7-2.0M because ssangyong really prices high, by being the BMW/Lexus/Volvo/Volkswagen of Korea...

It has always had a Mercedes Benz drivetrain. Kcboy has an RX290 which used the old-school 2.9.

The current 2.7 is the engine used in the Mercedes M-Class and Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel variants.

The independent rear suspension is not available in all variants. At least a live axle is still available for folks who like it old school.

i remember reading an article written by tito hermoso in C! Magazine praising the Stavic. tito hermoso also said don't judge the stavic from its exterior looks because the interior and engine is really nice... he also said that it rides like a car... the issue is the september 2006 issue

Ok naman ang new Ssangyong products lately pero yung dealer dito(Wheels) eh medyo overpricing ang ginagawa nila sa products nila.Oh well sana makakita ako ng Rexton II sa Wheels.

The Stavic should ride and drive well considering it gets it's underpinnings straight from a Mercedes Benz W124 E-Class sedan.

The Chairman was also E-Class derived. I'm not sure what platform the current Chairman is on. Btw, I saw a Chairman (with MB badges) being serviced at Sunshine Motors (a third party MB specialist).

galing na ako sa wheels.. wala pa rexton II dun baka next month or next year nila ilabas dito rexton II.. same daw w/ the korean spec kasi yung rexton I dito korean-spec din.. they will price it a bit higher than the current one
