Hi Guys! I'm a graduate of BS Marine Transportation but never got the chance to use this course as my chosen profession. Ever since I was a kid, I always dream of sailing different seas around the globe and get to go to places I only see on television but unfortunately, due to many factors I have to consider, I decided not to pursue my dream. SIGH! I now work in the call center industry holding an administrative position hehehe! (Layo ano?!) Guys, consider yourselves lucky to be in the Maritime industry. Not only do you help achieve a better future for your family and loved one's, you're also a big contributor shaping our country's economy. Mabuhay kayong lahat!

Welcome Babnoy! Abt sa post mo, i think you should also be thankful having landed a stable job dyan sa atin, kasi while you can say that we're lucky to be working on our profession, you can also say na may mga disadvantages din naman ang trabaho dito.

You're not alone Babnoy. I'm a BSMT graduate too but working in a manufacturing firm as a manager. Mas masarap ang buhay dito sa lupa. Maganda lang ang kita ($$$$$$) sa dagat.

Minsan, nakita ko ang isang classmate who is now a policeman. Hindi rin sya nakasakay.

ima2811 and *rnold - Welcome sa thread.

6wks on/off?

Tama ka skip me sahod kahit bakasyon.Hindi standby pay ang tawag kase fulltime employee kung ano ang sahod pag onboard ganon din pag break me offshrore bunos lang while onboard 25% on your per annual pay divided by 12 the result will be your per day onboard. once in a while me mga performance bunos at miret bunos din kaya para ka din tumama ng lotto.

Ano ba work ng gun mech?

Everyones aware na more on computerized and advance sophisticated system and technology ang gamit ng mga seismic fleet like the used of US military some says identical To NaSA equipment.

But still has a lot of handfull things to do even the advance equipment been available to use. Marami kaming pinoy dito in defferent dept. All of us are direct hired infact kapalitan ko ang brother ko pagbaba nya ako naman ang papalit same department. Me and my brother ay marami ng naipasok sa kompanya by sharing our blessings from GOD above.

Maganda talaga dyan sa seismic. About 6years ago, i happen to talk with one of my classmate before na involve din sa related industry na yan. Bale 2off sya DP operator, imagine choff na ako ng tanker tapos pareho lang kami ng sahod, then mas maganda pa terms nya dahil 3months on/off sya with pay din, more or less pareho siguro dyan sa inyo.

Isa pa, if lumipat ako, baka wala pa rin ako sa position ko now, so no regret din.

So far so good din actually, after all it doesn't matter how much you earn, it's how you spend that matters.

More power sa mga marinong pinoy.

Tama ka sa phrase mo skip. But still you have an advantage kung medyo mataas kondi alam mo naman bumaba ng husto ang $.

Meron akong kasama but on other CGGVeritas veritas fleet 2nd0ff sya very young on his mid 30's He decided to shift to be a navigator marami kaseng exam, training upgrading etc. pag ipursue pa nyang mag off. 2nd off kase sya sa fleet nila at nakita nyang mas magandang makaipon pag naka pwesto sa seismic. magkasama kami sa training nearly a year now sabi nya hindi sya nagkamali ng pinili.

Imagine lalo na pag provincial hire ka kol namin door to door delivery kase magmula paglabas ng gate ng bahay papuntng domestic airport to mla. then hotel, transportation, meals etc. shoulder by company training courses offered fr time to time abroad are all free expenses.

Lito62 I wish marami akong matulungang kabaro pero iba kase ang line of work mo. Us have the axcess on recommending qualified personnel i hope you know what I mean ang maibigay ko lang is the website cggveritas and find your self a position that related to your credentials.

Abt naman sa siste ng employment, talagang maraming advantage sa direct compared to agency, but now, more and more agencies are starting to have an improved standard of employment, like continous compensation, but mostly applicable pa lang 'to sa mga senior officers and some sa mga juniors. Tulad now, meron ng offer sa ibang company na 3month on/off with $6.5t continous plus free airfare to join onb sa wife and one child once a year. Di na masama.

Lito62, if exp fitter ka kamo sa LNG, maybe you might consider joining chemical tanker. PM mko if interested ka, i'll send you details. For now, just for your info, wages is around $1870 plus open OT with normal excess hours of 100+ hr rate of $4.9/hr. Rejoining and stby pay are std incentives.
