Bro since the DLSU Centennial Homecoming will be held in the LSGH Grounds for the very first time I will be making a few assumptions based on the experience of the LSGH Homecoming:

The event will be held in the Upper Field. This is where the Track Oval is and the main stage will most likely be in the baseball diamond...

Parking inside campus will be limited for the jubilarians. Other attendees will have to park along Ortigas Ave. No worries because the MMDA as well as the Mandaluyong and San Juan Police will be out in full force to direct traffic and prevent those "bukas-kotse" guys and what-have-you's lurking around for a quick buck.

Since it will be your first time to attend a homecoming, expect a lot of goodies, freebies and food, especially that it's truly a special event for all of us La Sallites/La Sallians...

Anyone who knows this couple? Or, naging professor si Ms. Corazon Balarbar(mother) or Ms. Julie Balarbar-Tañada(the one in the news)?...

    http://cocktales.ph/index.php?s=tanada

    Tañada’s wife gets nothing
    February 14,2011

NO wonder the estranged wife of House Deputy Speaker Lorenzo “Erin” Tañada III is fighting her husband all the way to the Supreme Court, despite the couple already having obtained a Church annulment of their marriage way back in 2002.

Not only did the courts award the custody of their two boys, now aged 16 and 11, to the congressman, Julie Balarbar-Tañada, a marketing professor at the Asian Institute of Management and De La Salle University, was also given no property or financial settlement as a result of the split.

    Why?

“There is no liquidation, partition and distribution of any property since the parties did not bring or acquire any real property during the marriage,” said Makati Regional Court Judge Rebecca Mariano in her June 26, 2007 decision on the petition for the declaration of nullity of the Quezon congressman’s marriage.

To make matters worse for Balarbar, the Office of the Solicitor General, which as a matter of duty defends the institution of marriage, this time agreed with the Quezon congressman and did not appeal the Makati court’s decision.

Reading from the regional trial and appellate court decisions, Balarbar, who married Tañada in 1993 after six years of going steady, never stood a chance in the litigation.

Not only did the Quezon congressman had the Church annulment decision as exhibit when he lodged the case in 2004, Tañada also presented a clinical psychologist, Dr. Natividad Dayan, and a priest, Raffy Cruz, to lay the basis of the ground for annulment: psychological incapacity to comply with the essential marital obligations.

The trial’s biggest irony was that the wife (not Tañada, as reported in this space Friday) presented her mother, retired La Salle English professor Dr. Corazon Balarbar, as her witness, but the court ended up using the good mother’s testimony against the daughter.

“When Corazon Balarbar confronted her daughter to stop seeing her ‘particular friend,’ appellant refused,” Associate Justice Jane Aurora Lantion said in the Nov. 25, 2010 decision.

“In addition, [Makati RTC Judge Rebecca Mariano] issued an order on Oct. 22, 2007, strictly enjoining appellant [Julie Balarbar-Tañada] from bringing her boyfriend and/or male friends into the family home [in San Lorenzo Village] and from exposing the young and common children to her inappropriate relationships pending resolution of the case,” Lantion said.

Wifey and myself watched the UAAP Volleyball Finals Game yesterday between the UST Lady Tigresses and the DLSU Lady Spikers. DLSU won in 3 straight sets, with the last set, a cliffhanger....

Congratulations to the DLSU Lady Spikers for winning the Championship!

See you guys on 11th June at the SMX Convention Center, MoA....

Proudly Green - 100 Years of La Salle!!!

CALLING ALL MEN AND WOMEN OF GREEN!

If you still haven't, please block off your calenders on this
red-letter day : June 11, 2011. On this day, kicking off the
week-long series of activities celebrating La Salle's Centennial in
the Philippines will be "Proudly Green - 100 Years of La Salle", the
Grandest La Sallian Fellowship Event Ever! Details of this
    once-in-a-lifetime event are:

What Proudly Green - 100 Years of La Salle
Where SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Bay City
    When 4:00 PM - 11:50 PM, Saturday, June 11, 2011
Who The Entire LaSallian Family nationwide and based abroad
Why Kick-Off Event for the week-long start of LaSalle's
    Centennial Celebration

Under the auspices of the Grade School & High School Taft Chapter of
the DLSAA, details of this event are as follows:

    * The entire ground floor of SMX, accommodating a maximum of 5,000
persons, will be for the exclusive use of the collective LaSallian
Family - Christian Brothers, Faculty, Administrators of our 17
District Schools nationwide, Students, Alumni, and family members of
    alumni both here and abroad.

    * For over 4,000 attendees, we anticipate a considerable number to
car pool. Parking provisions are more than enough. Basement parking
holds 380 cars. Front Outdoor Parking holds 800 cars (also used by
MOA shoppers). Back Outdoor Parking also holds another 800 cars (also
used by MOA shoppers). The South Parking Area of Mall of Asia
accommodates over 2,000 cars; from here, there is a pedestrian
bridgeway leading to SMX, our venue.

    * Doors will be open for registration at 4:00 PM. Upon registration,
each attendee shall be issued an ID Tag and given a token gift item.
Usherettes will guide attendees to their respective tables.

    * Seating will be in tables for 10. Reservations are only for
Pre-Paid Table Reservations (10 Pax). Location of the assigned table
is determined on a "First-to-Pay, First-Served" basis. Chronological
reservation payment entries managed by the President of the GS & HS
Chapter shall be the sole determinant of who gets choice tables first.

    * "Proudly Green - The Musical" Is an exciting and inspiring musical
done in lyric theater depicting the 100-year history of La Salle in
the Philippines in song and dance. Existing Broadway, rock, pop and
gospel music have been carefully chosen with the lyrics rewritten to
become the script of the play. Cast members are La Salle students,
alumni, and professional actors/singers. Directed by multi awarded
Francis "Fritz" Infante (HS'57), the music, lyrics and visual
highlights that support the very conceptual approach of the musical
will bring the viewer through a mix of emotions, from smiles to
laughter to dramatic moments, and will bring everyone to a collective
feeling of family, of being Proudly Green. Smile as the lyrics of the
music that threads the three acts brings a counterpoint of familiarity
and serendipity. Be pleasantly surprised at how a popular rock song
provides the bed for the early years of La Salle, culminating in that
    first game
between La Salle and Ateneo. Hold back your tears as a gentle song
floats amidst the bedlam of inhumanity that befell Lasallians on
February 12, 1945. Laugh at the frivolity of the scene depicting the
entry of the first Lasallian females. Smile and sigh as specific songs
familiar to all Lasallian ages bring us to realize that we are really
One La Salle after all. Be admonished by the next generation of
Lasallians as they question and sing about their future in a world
that was not well cared by the previous generation. In the end, be
inspired with a tableau and music that will fill us renewed resolve as
the heritage of Lasallian education all of us received in the last
hundred years sustains us, and brings us full circle into the next
    hundred years.

    * A very impressive timeline audio-visual presentation will be the
vivid static show of De La Salle in the Philippines, as prepared by
LaSallians in the College of St. Benilde.

    * For individual Photo-Ops, there will be a Green Screen where you
choose the background of your photo, i.e. - choose from a number of
options, such as the first school in Nozaleda, the pioneering first 9
Christian Brothers, DLSC Taft Main Building after the battle of
Manila, Christian Brother of your choice, etc.

    * Bas Reliefs of a number of Christian Brothers and well-known and
well-loved lay teachers who were all significant in our La Sallian
education will be on display, e.g. - the First 9 Christian Brothers,
    Bro. Benedict, Bro. Andrew, etc.

    * An Exhibit Section will feature (a) the Education and Environment
('E & E") advocacies of La Salle, and (b) Corporate Social
Responsibility Initiatives (CSR) of corporate and individual
benefactors, such as PHINMA, Pilipinas Shell, Geronimo de los Reyes
Foundation. In this event, sponsors become part of the Lasallian
family experience through the showing of their advocacies.

    * A Memorabilia Section will feature various La Sallian merchandise
    and keepsakes for sale.

    * The Proudly Green Commemorative Book will be available after this
June 11 event because it will feature photos and items of this
celebration. It will feature many interesting first-person accounts
of alumni (factual, amusing, heart-rending, historical, etc).

    * We have contracted the services of an excellent caterer (one of the
10 SMX-accredited caterers), the sumptuous food of which have been
taste-tested and approved. The food will carry the timeline theme
with Spanish, American and Filipino cuisine to be served.

    * The fantastic musical will be followed by the live band music and
non-stop Dancing. 30 favorite DIs of most LaSallians will help us
    celebrate.

    * There will be no speeches nor raffles -- just plain celebration
    with friends, colleagues, and family.

    * In a couple of weeks, a good cross-section of some 30 La Sallians
will appear intermittently in short TV spots until the week ending
June 11, 2011, showing their pride in being sons and daughters of La
    Salle.
We enjoin all La Sallites/LaSallians to firm up their plans to attend
now. Gather in groups of 10 to pay in advance so you are assured of
preferred table reservations. You may also get your tickets from the
SM Ticketing Group which is fully supporting this momentous event.

For more details please call the office of Mr. Manny Blanco, President
of the Grade School/High School Chapter at tel. no. 818 3021

Let's all be there on 6/11/11. Animo La Salle!
