DepEd: Only pre-school classes suspended Wednesday
The Department of Education on Tuesday clarified reports regarding the suspension of classes Wednesday, November 28.
"Nagkamali lamang po ang isa sa mga sumagot sa amin dito sa tanggapan na ang naibanggit po kasi ay pati elementary, hindi po tama 'yon at gusto lamang namin linawin na ang pre-elementary lamang po ang automatically suspended for tomorrow," Rizalino Jose Rosales, officer-in-charge of DepEd's Metro Manila regional office, told a radio dzMM interview.
(One of our staff got it wrong because he said that elementary classes are suspended Wednesday. That's not right. We would like to clarify that only pre-elementary classes are automatically suspended for tomorrow.)
According to the DepEd Web site, "Classes are automatically suspended IN ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS at the PRE-SCHOOL LEVEL when TYPHOON SIGNAL NO. 1 is raised by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). "
"Classes are automatically suspended IN ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS at the PRE-SCHOOL, ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY LEVELS when TYPHOON SIGNAL NO. 2 is raised by PAGASA," it added.
PAGASA hoisted Signal No. 1 over Metro Manila and provinces nearby after tropical depression Lando (international name Hagibis) re-entered the country through Palawan.
