    Hi doc,
Yup, I had the left tie rod end, both ball joints and bushings...just a week ago I had it checked and the suspect were the wheel bearings. Good thing I have spare parts, so I just had the mechanic transplant new knuckles (rotors, calipers, and hub as in yun buong kabitan ng gulong) on the front and it was also time to replace the right tie rod end. after that I had the wheels cambered and aligned...hopefully when we go to Clark this week mawala na yun wiggle at 125kph - at wag lang ako mahuli ng hi-way patrol...

Another job recently done was the crankshaft oil seal, had it replaced may konting patak eh.

Just a few more fixings and hopefully ok na mechanicals...susunod papapagwapo na.

The repairs may seem costly but it's still within the budget I estimated for restoration.

I have a couple more questions for you...

Is the so called wiggle coming from your steering wheel or does your entire car vibrate???

My W124 260E is having vibe issues... She used to vibrate starting at 60kph; as in the whole body vibrates... It disappears when I let go of the gas and promptly returns when I press the pedal again... It will rise to a crescendo at 100 and will slowly disappear at around 120-130kph... Had my wheels balanced and aligned and now the vibe shows up at 80kph instead of 60...

Methinks it's the so-called flex discs of our propeller shafts... Have your flex discs looked into...

I think (and hope) it's with the wheel bearings. Vibration was definitely coming from the front wheels. ride was completely steady from 0-120kph, 125 is the marker where wiggle starts.

When the wheels were checked both were found a bit shakey, well, the left shakier than the right. My spares were very tight. I had the flex disk checked when I bought the car, no obvious problems then...anyway, that one I have a spare too. hehe

So how's your car now? hope it's better. If you need a mechanic I can pass on to you a good one who was actually passed on to me by Manny Manosca. Name's Mang Oly #3933872. He and his boys do home service pa...he helped me out just yesterday.

    Thanks

Thank you for the offer stimpy but I live in the Paranaque/Alabang area and there's a wide gamut of mechanics, electricians and what-have-you specializing in MBs here and they're recommended by friends and relatives who also own MBs...

I'll give you a progress report on my 260E, no worries...

    Hey stimpy!!!!

Finally put the 260E on a lifter and I saw that the rear flex disc's shot...

My vacuum body is also spewing ATF though not by much to render her useless...

    Will address these asap....

    Goodluck with the repairs Doc...

from my end, I took my car to the tire center to have the front left tire vulcanized and asked them about the wiggle (they're my suki for camber & alignment) and the guy said it's most likely due to the age of my tires and even if I had them balanced now the wiggle will be back in a month or so.

BTW, I got dunlop le mans 215/60/R15 which are prob'ly 3 years old which I got from a friend Oct'10. The tires maybe around 2.5-3 yrs old.

Still, I'll have a mechanic take a look under the car when I have it washed this week (under, engine and body).

Lemme know how your repairs go...

Had the car washed last week (engine, under)...I was a bit apprehensive at first that it might not start but one-click on the ignition and he started right up. Thing is, the carwash people handed me a vacuum dashpot (green top-like apparatus with a vacuum hose attached. "Nahulog lang pag-angat namin eh" was the reply i got from them. We tried to find where it went but we have no idea what we're looking for weird thing is, wala naman pinagbago takbo. so i guess, it was just hanging there since I bought the car.

Anyway, over the weekend I had the aircon checked and had some fittings done properly, re-charged freon and it's perfect again. Bwisit lang talaga yun aircon shop na pinagawan ko before mahal na, palpak pa!

Another thing I had done was the tensioner bearing, it was the source of the tik-tak noise. Also had the serpentine belt changed...ang aga namasko ng kotse ko.

Target this week is to place the vacuum dahspot where it belongs...through research i found it it might be the cause of the shift-shock i'm experiencing in 1st-2nd and 2nd to 3rd gear...

Hay, what's in store for our cars in the new year?

Your suking Benz shop / electrician knows how to do it. AFAIK you may need to replace a couple of sockets, pretty straightforward job for an MB electrician. Congrats on the new "euro" look .. :D

new HL and corner lamps, old tail lights.

how much are you selling your evap and exp valve? speaking of which, any recommended AC shops that understand the electronics and vacuum systems involved in the AC system?

had my a/cgeneral repair sa sucat going to BF a year ago. ung shop tapat ng pan d manila. forgot the name. good service, pricey lang ang piyesa. kinalas nila evap ng oto from firewall in little than 30mins. they knew the w201. hindi nga lang nagawa yung climate control ko kasi needs a new one, so temp switch lang or converted ang ginawa, my blower motor needed replacement. they will do leak check on the entire system, will pull out evap, condenser, compressor. lahat for half a days job. tapos kung may mechanical issues ka, labas ka lang going to SLEX you will find megastar... nsa sulit din ad nila, they sell evap for 8500. to be sure pa estimate ka muna before anything done on the car para prepared k s gastos.
