Opel Toyota? He, he. Pity that Opel Astra, a German built and engineered car, designed to run on the autobahnen. It has been desecrated. Is that Toyota engine more durable and reliable than the Opel? Adam
Opel might wake up from his grave when he sees this conversion/ retrofitting.

Hi nickriingen. Im thankful for your wonderful comment. You appreciate the Opel engine and its capabilities. My concern and reason behind this project was the long run of the car itself and the maintenance I'd be facing in the future. Being a student. Budget is limited, cause I use my own money with everything that I do with it.

Well to start with, the car stalled in EDSA 4 months ago, had it towed going home, upon inspection, the crankshaft was broken, had it estimated for the broken part. Costing to almost 35k with out labor yet, so all in all it would mostly cost 45-50k with other parts to be replaced due to un-timing caused by the crankshaft.

Now, If ever I do agree with the 50k costing, it is still not assured that it would run as how it did originally, so 50 50 was on the line. So decided to get a reliable and strong engine, which would cost me less in the future and would be easy to tune and maintain. That's why I opted for a Toyota Engine. A Silver Top 4age 20v.

With regards to its power, having it driven in Quezon Ave for a quick run, had to say it does feel powerful. So I could happily say that my decision was well worth it. And at the end of the day, I didn't have any regrets. Cheers Mate

Bro. I`m planning on to swap my 2A engine to a 4AGE ST too.

If you don't mind ... how much did the whole conversion cost you ? And, how many days was the conversion ?

Lastly, uhm ... can I know the contact details of the shop wherein you bought your 4AGE and the contact details of it.

    nice ride for the TS!

i understand your purpose for changing your engine to a more maintainable one. i'm also a student, ang hirap talaga kapag ikaw ang gumagastos para sa auto mo, kahit sa gas lang. nahihiya din akong humihingi ng financial support sa parents ko although they are willing naman to support.

ignore those people who are saying about the founder of Opel. it's your car. nabili mo na yan, kahit ano pang gawin mo dyan its up to you as long as hindi ka nakakaperwisyo ng ibang motorista.

    bro mfo,

thanks for the offer nga pala to help. uunahin ko muna siguro aesthetic mods, may napagtanungan din ako na medyo malaki gastos in swapping engines since pati brakes, fuel pumps etc. etc. papalitan.

And, syempre diba you won't know if the work is perfect or what so ... susunod na lang yung engine swap pagkatapos ng exterior/interior upgrades ko. Budget ko lang din eh nasa 50k eh.
Umpisahan ko na siguro this week yung pagaayos.

I`ll rely on my stock engine first, bro. With that ... i`ll see the real horses under my hood. Depende rin kasi sa driver, hehehehe.

    Goodluck on your project bro.

An Astra isn't a very fast, very expensive or very luxurious car. In Europe, it's roughly equivalent to a Corolla. It was only more expensive here because of taxes.

Uh... more reliable and durable? Who knows. I've personally never heard of Toyota silvertops breaking their crankshafts... old Opels are generally not the most reliable cars in the world... which is why Daewoos sucked so bad... because they were mostly old Opels...

And lose all instrument cluster functionality... have to put up with an AC compressor that's finicky and hard to maintain... as well as needing to frankenstein all the mounts and cooling system? No thanks.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
