In my opinion, I have the best of both worlds. Fun to drive and yet frugal fuel consumption.
For a total of 5700 km, average consumption is 15.3 km/L. For this journey, Bulacan - Baguio, 13.9 km/L driving aggressively.

My weekly route of 400 km costs me about 1800. If I wanted to save money, the best option is to commute and avail of the free service our company offers.
However, I really like to drive. I've always enjoyed the comfort CR-V 98 has provided me. With Mazda, I also enjoy the comfort in addition to the exhilarating feeling of "connectedness" to the car.
I got a horrendous fuel consumption last Sunday, 9.4 km/L. This is the first time I've had this kind of consumption. I was driving a bit aggressively on our way to Subic. The fun run of Touge Battle made me "blind" with such kind of fuel consumption.
If only I got up early... I usually get an average of 17-18 km/L. 20.4 km/L is my latest for a 140 km stretch. I think I can make it above 20 if I were to drive "strictly" at 83 kph, exclusive to highways.
No. That includes my route from Bulacan - NLEX - SCTEX - Subic, plus the run with Touge Battle including most of idle time. The only time the engine was off was when we took our lunch and a three hour waiting time.
When I got home driving in a normal fashion, it increased to 10.1 km/L.
My 2017 M3's recent FC from my northern trip to Baguio.
NLEX/SCTEX/TPLEX 14 km/Li with cruise control set at 100kmh
Uphill battle with trucks along Marcos Highway all the way to Baguio 12 km/Li. The 2.0Li M3 was very easy to drive with just automatic transmission mode when tackling the steep tight curves of Marcos Highway and overtaking the trucks and underpowered sedans. The M3 is smart enough to keep the right high rev (3000-4000rpm) when going uphill. The only time I would use the manual transmission mode was when using engine braking when going downhill.
Body roll was really minimal, quite impressive. Kids enjoyed the ride feel from the centrifugal force whenever I would speed up on an uphill tight corner.
Crazy fuel consumption! At 64.9 km/L, I know this isn't true. This short stretch is mostly downhill.![]()
