    * sir azzkkr:

    regards & ingat!

    Dear Hilton:

Mas mararamdaman mo yung pagbabago kung madalas ka magpatakbo ng matulin - in English during hard and fast acceleration and changing gears madalas mabitin yung makina sa arankada - that's really where the pump tends to help.

Hi Mazda peeps! Pa-advice po mga gurus. My B2200 engine got fried last week, one of the hoses of the radiator blew and nagoverheat. When my mechanic checked, he said I have two options, first is to have a complete overhaul (pistons, gasket, the works) which he pegs at around 40k. Second option is to get a surplus engine which I'm more inclined to do so. Question lang po, is a complete overhaul really that expensive? For engines po naman, how much kaya aabot (rough estimate for replacement engine, labor and LTO paperwork)? Uhm, any ideas sa going rates ng replacement engines and which engines are recommended? Hindi po ba hassle with the LTO paperwork? Sorry for dropping a lot of questions at one go, but I really need advise as to which option to take (syempre, limitado ang budget with the holidays fast approaching). O nga pala, sa Davao po ako based. Any input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! Happy trucking!

    Dear indiorebel:

I really can't say how much the overhaul/repair of your engine is as I have not seen the damage nor do I know the cost of parts/labor and machining or that of a 2nd hand engine in Davao.

Here in Manila the cost of a surplus R2/RF TURBO diesel engine is around 27K-30K with the transmission - there are a lot here and you have a wide range of choice.

If you want a much more powerful engine go with the WLT-31 (turbo version of WLT for a B2500), it will cost you about 37K-42K - yup prices have gone UP even here!

Unless you guys have really good 1st class machine shops there, I would gamble with a 2nd hand engine in good condition - here you can return it after 1 week if it smokes... perhaps you should ask for that guarantee also.

    Hope this helps,

    Dusky Lim

Sir Dusky, thanks so much for the input. The estimate for the overhaul was a shock. There are a couple of good machine shops here but they are pricey. Plus, just having the engine taken down for a thorough checkup means that I already have to shell out some serious cash, hence why I was looking into getting a new engine dropped in instead. Problem is, highway robbery ang R2 na engine that I canvassed, they want 38k for it. I also have to take into account the labor for getting it fitted. So I was thinking if I can grab a hold of a 30k R2 engine, then a couple of thousand pesos for the labor and the LTO papers, Im looking at a 40K total, give or take. That leads me back to the 40k estimate for the overhaul (and some new parts). I swear, this is a major headache, specially with the tight finances. Anyhow, is a WLT engine ok? Will it fit without any mods? My truck is a 92 B2200 4x2. Im thinking of getting an R2 since this is pretty much what I can only afford (But I still have to set aside some cash over the months).

Also, I will be keeping in mind the advice on getting a 1 week warranty, thanks so much for the input. Oh, by the way, is the LTO process of having the engine changed straightforward? or pahirapan rin ba ngayon?

Thanks for taking the time Sir. TIA

Hi sirs! New member po! Just registered. i bought a 1990 mazda b2200 diesel single cab, long bed last Sept 2010 in tanay for 95k. Sad to say, after 2 weeks, the engine failed. i bought an R2 engine for replacement from CINCO Ent. for 30k. but only got the papers august 2011. In short, I had my original engine overhauled costing 50K+. My investment in this vehicle is now running to around 230k. I am very happy to know that there is a group of Mazda B-series owners helping one another. More Power to all of you! Hope you can tell me where i can find Mazda parts, right now, I need tail gate assembly , rear bumpers, and dashboard assembly. Thanks and God bless!

    Dear Drei:

As far as I know the Metro Manila LTO is only a little bit worse than usual, given na nagpapakilala ang bagong hepe nila.

Its all the same with most of the Aquino appointees' like the guy in the MMDA.... matatakaw lahat, at GUTOM silang lahat.

Usually most of the paperwork should be taken care of by the vendor of the engine - kasi siya naman ang nakinabang - di ba?

Thats how it works here - if pinapahirapan ka ng kausap mo sa LTO, then it's time to fine a new fixer.

Best of luck with the engine change....

Please post as to how it went.

Also please join us in our Mazda club on FACEBOOK, Tsikot is becoming much too commercial, they hold you hostage and force you to read advertising pages - thats not just impolite - its the moral equivalent of KIDNAPPING....

    Hi Dusky Lim,

Any luck with the valve clearances? I've been looking for this for quite some time now but with no luck. Mine is a Ford Courier '97 but with the same engine of B2500.

    Regards
