    1. ano tawag dun sa pride na sedan type?
    2. ano ung pinakalast year that the pride was being built/sold(both sa CD-5 and sedan type) here? i've seens 2003(kuno) models on sale
    3. was there ever a pride with an EFI, or sa picanto lang talaga sya nagsimula?
    4. i think i know the answer to this na, pero in terms of safety, on a scale of 1 to 10, where does it rank?
    5. was there ever a variant that had >1.0L displacement?
    6. what engines were used on it? same case ba sa mga MB100, i.e. jap made engine?

sagot ko dito: (according sa # ito, ha)

    1. simply just pride na sedan.
    2. mga 2003 nga siguro..ours kasi is a 1998 pride sedan 1.3L a/t.
    3. from our local factory, columbian motors, NO.
    4. safety, is a small car, lugi sa coliition with a bigger one. no abs, airbag and most moern safety features..of course since late 80's pa design nito,e! pero i could give it 5-6...
5.most with the 1.1L are badged with LX, GTX's are 1.3L... ung may sticker din na "spree" is 1.1L, ung may sticker na "sport" ata ay 1.3L
    6. kia pride is actually a "ford festiva" based on mazda 121.. so its a mazda par say. 1.1L have designation B1, 1.3L have the B3 code...kaya nga sila may pampalit at naka-pride they swapped in mazda B5 or B6, BPT(will it fit kaya)..

like sa aming pride..im eyeing for a mazda BJ engine(1.3L dohc) and mate it to a 4-speed matic! yup 3-speed lang ung local na matic..

my tip: kung gusto ng pride, get the GTX(front power windows, power antenna, defogger) models na may MANUAL tranny...ang layo ng difference sa fuel consumption and maintenance!palagyan mo nalang ng power steering kung gusto mo maging much sportier!

the spoiler is a original kia part bought togerther with the car at kia quezon ave(before it became nissan, then now kia again)at 14,000 pesos!

uy, once ko lang ito ginawa,ha....just to see its maximum speed...

Here's the specs of the 1.1 liter engine from the Columbia Autocar Corp. brochure...
    Type: SOHC inline-4
    Bore&Stroke: 68.0mm x 78.4mm
    Displacement: 1139cc
    Max Power: 70PS
    Max Torque: 10.3 kg/m
Fuel System: Carburetor, mechanical fuel pump

*elsewhere the 1.1 liter engine is rated at 43kw(58PS), hmmm....

Actually the Ford Festiva was manufactured for Ford by Kia Motors(it was a Ford badged Kia Pride), both cars are rebadged Mazda 121's.

    hmmmm.... oo nga... pero

1.1L carb ng CD5 produces 70ps while the more modern Picanto engine has only 64ps? hmmmm.....

    btw, A li'l OT:
dba Kia Pride CD5 = Ford Festiva
Kia Avella = Ford Aspire replaced the Pride CD5/Festiva....

is the Picanto a modern day CD5? if so, why is it smaller than its real predecessor Aspire/Avella?

Dunno if Picanto is supposed to replace the CD5. Depends on which market, I guess.

As for the engine, could be lots of things. Picanto could well be tuned for emissions, fuel economy, etc.

The sub-compact Kia Rio replaced the Kia Avella and its older sibling the Kia Pride.
The Pride was produced alongside the Avella as a cheaper entry level model. I guess its similar to the old LEC Sentra being sold alongside the newer gen Sentra III in the RP.
By the time the Rio came out, I think the Kia Pride was only being sold in a few countries, while the rest of the world got the larger and newer Kia Rio.

The Picanto being a mini city car is actually a class smaller than the sub-compact Kia Pride, which was replaced by larger models.
I guess they didn't want the Picanto to be too close to the Rio, so its much smaller.
So I guess the Picanto replaces both the slightly larger but much older Kia Pride and the slightly smaller Visto city car.

    O.T.
This reminds me Kia also had another city car, its actually a rebadged Hyundai Atos Prime(a low roof version of the Atos).
    1998-2004 Kia Visto

Kia has a lot of overlapping old models(especially their small cars) that stay in production even when the new gen models come out, so sometimes it becomes a bit confusing.
