Til I finally decided to replace the ignition contact. Now, okay na sya.

mga bro, just wanted to share what happend today. the water pump of our pregio finally gave up on me. i discovered that it needed replacing when i was in mulanay, quezon last holy week. luckily, dito na sa manila bumigay. got a new replacement one from goodgear (made in korea) for 1,000. labor of the mechanic in front of goodgear was charging 1,000. but cuz there was no space in goodgear to park the van. bought the new water pump and installed it at home. paid my suke mechanic 300 for his time

usually sir aga na nasisira sa water pump ay yung bearing, nagstuck up nagkakaroon ng abnormal sound then madalang naman mangyari sa water pump na masiraan ng impeller blades

the bearings of the water pump was loose. i only noticed this cuz of unusual noise on idling while i was checking the engine bay during holy week. fortunately, it was not leaking water. i prayed that i wont give up on me for thejouney home (300km trip one way).

i find the labor in goodgear a bit high. but its very convenient cuz if you find other stuff that have to be replaced. you can buy the parts and replace immediately. cuz the engine bay is partially hidden. you only get to view the whole engine when the driver seat and floor are removed.

my mechanic charge me 300 only because he used my tools and sealant. and i did half the work...hehehe

i've used the van yesterday, and thing seems to be fine now:-)

bro, why are you planning to remove your thermostate.

there was a time when we removed the defective thermostate in our pregio. idling temp was below 1/4. driving around temp would go up slightly above 1/4. when we installed a new thermostate. it would stay stuck at 1/2. if it would go beyond this overheat na.

i would suggest not removing the thermo unless its defective. as in theory it maintains the optimal running temp. if your temp goes above 1/2. then there is something wrong. if you suspect the cause of your overheating is the thermo. then just replace it with a new one. new original thermo is around 300 in goodgear. just make sure that the rating is for tropical 70-80 degrees.

thermo of my pregio was removed permanently, i think 7 yrs na walang thermo never ako naka-experience ng overheating and it never reached 1/2 even in uphill or traffic situation. sa design ng cooling system ng pregio madalas talaga masira ang thermo and to avoid or prevent na mag overheat kapag nagmalfunction i decided to removed it na lang.
