E10 forms sediments in the tank when left unused for too long. These can clog the pump and injectors of GDI cars. If the car is not E10 compatible, the alcohol fumes will also destroy the rubber gaskets in the fuel pump. As ethanol degrades, it loses it's efficacy, lowering the octane of your fuel, which leads to knock.

If you take a long time to use up a tank, get at least 95RON, or even 96 plus.
So niky, it is not SAFE to buy a car with GDI engines because of our fuel quality? or filling up using PREMIUM gasoline will keep away the engine from knocking? and what do you mean "too long"? how about a weekend car?

    BTT:
checked this RIO HB in wheels erod.. parang medyo naliliitan ako sa loob. im 5'9 btw. but the car really is a head turner, gwapong gwapo talaga. but with the same engine with accent 1.4, medyo nakakatakot pa bumili.

If you use your GDI car regularly and fill up with a "clean" high octane blend like Velocity from a trusted station, it should be okay.

Don't let your car get low on fuel.

Weekend cars should be relatively safe, as long as you get out on the open roads and exercise them long enough to clean out the engine.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Update on my hatch's engine "knock", after almost empty with xcs, nagfill up ako ng P300 V-power sa 2nd ave, meron pa din tunong. After almost empty ulit, nagfull tank na ako ng V-power(macapagal)... then after driving for a while around almost 20kms ata.. wala na yung "knocking" hangang makauwi ako. Kinabukasan Manila-Angeles-Manila ako then today buong araw nasa daan ako hangang sa makauwi... so far so good.. can't hear any "knocking"...

Reset meaning, tatangalin yung connection ng battery for around 30 sec right? After that meron pa ba gagawin like initialization ek ek?

Eto yung car na gusto ko sana but because of the issues hounding the accent, and knowing na pareho lang sila ng makina ng Rio, I ended up getting the new City.

It has the same engine as the sedan version.

    Your reasoning has no value.
