Isuzu Japan mababa tingin sa Pinas
Isuzu exports models to the Phils. they couldnt sell elsewhere
they know Filipinos will buy anything Isuzu
the Phils. is a small market with little buying power
Japan first choice is always to sell to countries with bigger markets. countries with lots of buying power. they can make bigger profits in other markets
products they couldnt sell in other countries they dump here
the Phils. is their dumping ground
Slightly OT:
AFAIK, over the years there are really forum members who work for or are affiliated with various automakers. Boknoyxtrm2001 had ties with Isuzu, Jimbob with GM (need to confirm) and lui with Hyundai. I guess there are others also but I've not been so active in the forums for the last 3 years or so because of work and other things in life. What I can say is despite their obvious ties to their specific brands, they are also aware of the not so good qualities of their specific products as well as that of the company that makes/sells the product. Rabidly protecting a product will not win any customers.
This forum is not a car magazine that relies heavily on advertisers and sponsorship (although doc tsikot and jedi would appreciate that) so we are not at the mercy of car companies or any company for that matter.
Tsikot.com is an online community. And people who have been here long enough know that most folks here who give their opinions and write their reviews just say it how it is since a lot of us (including me) are not directly employed by this community nor are we in the automotive business and have nothing to gain with what we say/write other than to help other community members make informed decisions on their possible vehicle purchases and also to help them out should they have problems with they currently drive.
So let's just call an apple an apple and a spade a spade. The I-Van really isn't a five star effort in itself either by Isuzu or its contractor Centro. Yes, it retains the core values of being heavy duty and of carrying heavy loads. But it also comes up short on the values that people look for in a passenger van. Right now, we are finishing the renovation of my clinic and I'm looking for a small cargo truck to haul the furniture that the carpenter made (Tandang Sora to Manila). Can I cram it inside an I-Van? No, unless you take the seats out. And who likes taking their vehicles apart? I'd rather have a quick release third row seat (like on my father's 13 year old SUV) than need tools to take out the ones in my 17 year old daily driver. Yes, in theory you can configure an I-Van to your heart's (and wallet's) desire. But I tested a unit as what Isuzu will give to you when you go to the dealer with cash in hand. Truth be told, not all of us spend sleepless nights trying to think of how to make our vehicles better, some people would just get what the dealers give them and just live with it (good or bad).
I do not know or have even heard of anyone that uses their vehicle as a shuttle on weekdays then becomes a delivery van on weekends. Siguro lahat naman tayo nagpapahinga din. hehe. And I don't think I'd be hauling 2200kgs of bottled water anytime soon. My point is, there is a reason why the one-box van segment is as successful as it is today. It's because it is a good compromise between a passenger van and a cargo van. If Isuzu wants to think out of the box, then it should make an offering that will make people feel like it was worth thinking outside the box.
Personally, I just think that Isuzu wanted to compete in the mid-prized one box van segment but they had no vehicle available in that segment so they just had a local company make one out of their existing vehicle to save on development costs. Apparently the penny pinching is so glaringly obvious in some areas.

Ouch! this is the second time i witnessed an isuzu die-hard fanboy na ma i-van.. este i-ban..
The i-van is just another overpriced, poorly constructed, 3rd world passenger-van wannabee from Isuzu.
The other one is an AUV trying to be an SUV..![]()
Except for the brand and the pillars exposed sa ceiling, mukhang pwedeng pangharabas and pangkarga ng TAO. Seeing the wrap-around aircon vents (wrap around talaga, covering the front, left and right sides), sana maganda quality nito.
inapprove ng Isuzu Pinas execs coz they think the quality is good enough for Filipinos
again -- GOOD ENOUGH FOR FILIPINOS
alam nila mas mababa ang standard ng pinoy compared sa US or EU or Japan. pwede-na-yan ang attitide ng pinoy. besides, tatak Isuzu naman yung truck so it's more than enough to compensate for the backyard-fabricated body
eto tanong ko -- mabebenta ba ng Isuzu HQ ang i-van sa US, EU, Japan? what do you guys think?
will their governments even allow the i-van to be sold in their markets?
THE I-VAN IS SUBSTANDARD. DEVELOPING WORLD STANDARD. HINDI WORLD CLASS
pang Pinas lang ang i-van. in a country that allows backyard-built jeepneys and tricycles and pedicabs on public roads, the i-van is a luxury vehicle hahaha
hey, kita niyo sales ng Hyundai dito? thru the roof
Hyundai is being rewarded for selling us world class motor vehicles
pinoys want world class vehicles
pinoys have high standards when it comes to motor vehicles
Japan automakers should change their perception of Pinas
BTW
yung mga locally built bodies... which fanboi is so proud of
kita niyo paano kalawangin at mabulok after a few years
