Which among the following fully synthetic oils gave you the best performance if ever you have tried all of them: Motul Specific Crdi 5w-40, Torco SD-5 15w-40 and Mobil Delvac 5w-40? Wanna try the Royal Purple oil too but perhaps after the 100k km PMS. Plus Speedyfix is far from my location.

For the first time in my PMS, I have used a fully synthetic oil and Isuzu Commonwealth uses the Torco SD-5 15w-40 since they said that they don't use Motul Specific Crdi anymore. It's kinda pricey if I am not mistaken at 780 per liter at 8 liters. I wanted to just buy outside the dealer since it's about a couple of hundred peso cheaper but I find it such a trouble buying oil, look for a shop that would do the oil change since Isuzu Commonwealth wouldn't allow bringing your own oil, then bringing the car back to the dealer for the 80k km PMS. I find it such a hassle.

Truck has clocked more than 82k kms already and it still runs like new, more responsive and much smoother especially when I started using Unioil's Euro IV and thank God, it has been problem-free even though the CEL is lit up for more than a year already since Isuzu Commonwealth for some reason couldn't get to stock an EGR in their inventory.hehe CEL has been on my dash since Dec. of 2011 and the truck has ran I think almost 30k kms without stalling and no problem at all. I am not sure if I would feel a better performance now that it will run with a fully synthetic oil. I have already placed an order form again for that elusive EGR and I can't wait to replace and really feel the full power of it again coz I know once that CEL is lit up, it affects the performance of the vehicle.

Oh my bad, there was one problem that I faced... It's the stereo. It suddenly didn't wanna work.hehe Perhaps a busted fuse or just a loose connection somewhere. At least it's not the car that has a problem.hehe

Give or take, around 30 psi front and 37 psi rear. If loaded with 2 to 3 dirt bikes plus people, or people and stones or gravel, 38-39 psi. Max pressure rear when loaded at 41 psi according to my guide sheet.

Tire pressure adjustment in changing seasons you might ask? Well there are only two seasons in Philippines, hot and beri beri hot hehe

Don't know about Royal Purple, or even say the German-motor oil brand, LiquiMoly.

So far, i prefer Mobil1 Delvac 5W-40, mainly because between the three, it has better kinematic viscosity at different temps, viscosity index, and it got the highest TBN at 12.0. Motul and Torco, respectively, contain about 8.0 mg KOH/g. I may say that is way substantial enough, plus buffer, to protect your engine from the effects of sulphur oxidation formed during the pressure combustion process.

To explain briefly, kindly take note that 12.0 mg KOH/g means also 12.0 ppt KOH, or that is, 12.0 parts per thousand potassium hydroxide per gram of engine oil to neutralise/control the acid formed during combustion process, say with your diesel fuel containing 300 parts per million sulphur. With the Mobil1 oil, therefore, it takes MORE TIME before all its alkaline content (KOH) gets depleted thru series of neutralisation, than when you use the other two oils.

I went with the Torco for its 80k km PMS. So far so good. I also had my EGR cleaned by Central Diesel Clinic instead of going with the advise of Isuzu Commonwealth to replace it which costs 19k+ and that is without labor. Maybe on my next PMS, either I will try the Mobil 1 Delvac or the Royal Purple especially now that I got my Fleetguard oil filter from sir bayen.

Yesterday as I was cruising, I noticed that the engine was kinda rattling, clattering, imagine the sound of a torque wrench when it is being used, and sort of humming. It will just suddenly appear but mostly on the first gear and if the car is moving while on the 3rd or 4th gear around 60 kph. It doesn't happen all the time though. One thing I know is that I heard that sound when the MIL was lit but before, it was really noticeable at all gears and the idling was a bit rough. However, now the MIL doesn't lit so I don't know what is causing either I got a bad fuel from Unioil or the EGR again or perhaps the SCV, I have no clue. It started yesterday afternoon. This morning, it happened again but disappeared instantly. I don't feel any problems or unusual with the car at all.

Do you know what might be causing it?

Man, these are one of those times i wish i knew all the answers in the world! Ask Niky, he has an Isuzu as well, and he might just be of great help. He's a wealth of practical advice as his been known to be a hands-on tuner and a writer at the same time. Or, ask also GTi, he has a Trooper 4JX1-TC. He's another good practical-type of guy....

Never had that similar problem before (or so far) that i could derive answers from.... Was it rather pinging (ping, ping, ping)? Was the engine under load? Does it sound like the mixture is lean of fuel and rich of air, thus pinging, which i doubt anyway?

The problem also, in your case, is that it happens only far-in-between, in rarity, that when you take it to a diagnostic-test, it won't show JEEZE! ....Just when you need to have it figured out

You may have the suction-valve checked (any pre 2010 D-max has this small SCV, by the way, had mine changed to the current for free though at the Isuzu centre), and they can tell for sure if it's already restricted or something, and you may even have your EGR checked again if it's still in integrity.... That electronic-push rod piston (i don't know the proper name of it) there is not that durable might i say when one "could have" tinker it, unlike the mechanical-type EGR that goes with the Crosswind. The only time, in my case, the check engine light lit up in my so-called CRDi D-max 3.0 Ddi-iTEQ hehe is when my EGR needed replacement. After that, none-or-whatsover....

^ Actually I have no idea how to say that sound in words. As I have said in my previous post, the sound is very similar to a torque wrench like in this picture Torque wrench - ENSTO when you hold that little head thing and try to rotate it, you will hear a clicking sound. It is very similar to that but way faster and with a swishing sound. You would notice it right away since it's not part of the usual engine sound.

For ex. 1st gear to 2nd gear. Once it gets to about 1800 rpm, I will already shift. But once I press the clutch pedal, the sound of the engine is not anymore full or "buo" since it is elongated by a different sound which is that one. Other explanation is imagine revving your engine slowly say up to 2500 rpm. When you rev your engine, you should only hear one straight sound of a screaming engine. Then imagine shifting it to another gear, the sound will be cut short since the rpm will go down but once you release the clutch and stepped on the gas, you will hear the engine sound again. But this sound is very audible between the shift since from 1st to 2nd, instead of cutting the sound, there is an elongated clicking or rattling something sound. The other one is when let's say I am cruising, suddenly you will hear that swishing sound but it is not a straight "swwiiiiiisssshhhh" rather a "swiiissshh swiiissshh swwiiiishh" It is like it is matching the speed of the car. But it comes and goes. Then it will just disappear and God knows when you will hear it again. But never felt any unusual with its performance and no warning lights every lit up each time I hear those.

Yes I agree that when you bring it to the repair shop or dealer for diagnostic, for some reason it will not appear thus you'll end up looking like a schmuck blabbing and all the mechanic will tell you is he doesn't hear or see any problems so just return.hehe

I will observe first and hopefully it will just disappear eventually.

I really don't know how to describe the sound in words. The closest that I could think of is when you rotate the head of a torque wrench OR when you ride a mountain bike, when you already got the momentum, instead of pedaling forward, pedal backwards then you'll hear a fast clicking sound from the chain and the gears. It is very similar to that. When you hit the gas pedal all the way to 1800 rpm then shift, the sound will be elongated by that clicking sound.

Ex. Vroooooooommmmm Then to 2nd gear Vrooooooooomm... Then 3rd gear Vrooooooommmm...
If you'll notice, the sound is from the roar of the engine.

But with that sound..
Vrooooooommmmmm..... Then the clicking sound then to 2nd gear Vrooommmm.... clicking sound then 3rd gear Vrroooommm..

But those sounds come and go. Suddenly it will be ok but to tell exactly when you'll hear them again is close to impossible. I don't hear anything unusual in the engine at idle and the truck runs perfectly and no indicator lamps lit up each time I hear such sounds.

I will just observe first coz I have this strange feeling that I got a crappy fuel since this all started after I gassed up at Unioil then the next day, those sounds started to appear though I have been using Unioil's Euro IV diesel for quite sometime already and never had problems but the difference is before, the MIL light was lit and haven't fixed/cleaned yet and that particular day was my first time to gas up again after the EGR was cleaned. Hopefully neither the EGR nor the SCV needs to be replaced again coz those are expensive parts.

DTP used to be DTS Philippines that got into controversy for selling unrecognised chips. In fact it was the mother company in UK that sent out this notice. i don't know what followed then. Better search more about it before you avail of it and how much it is priced. But i believe it's one of the best diesel-tuning chips available around.

I have the German-made Racechip Pro, which even sells lesser than any similar chips out there. No wire-splicing involve, just a plug-and-play easy thing to install and you can tune the power and how you want it distributed along the rev-range the way you want it and anytime you want it ....You may find more about it from Jedi, one of the tsikot members here.

Medyo gumanda, sir. Kahit papano hindi ko na masyadong naririnig ung sounds na un.

Last Tuesday ata un, I called my friend/mechanic who has an OBDII scanner to inspect the truck. Ok naman daw ang EGR. Then he drove it, sad to say, hindi lumabas ung sound. Bad trip talaga ung ganon.hehe One thing he noticed in the figures is there is somewhat delay in closing or opening, I can't recall, of the EGR when the gas pedal is pressed and released.

I almost emptied the tank and put Petron, 300 pesos only, to try, noticed that the sound didn't appear as much as before though there were still at times, but really frequent. Then when near empty again, filled up with Seaoil, cost me 1900. So far same result with Petron. I really have this feeling it's due to the crappy fuel.

Mahirap mag inquire ng problema sa dealer sir, kasi ang solution nila palitan agad.hehe Matagal ng out of warranty ang Dmax ko, sir. 2008 ito nabili. Natatawa nga ako kasi tumawag ako sa different branches ng Isuzu and inquired if they do EGR cleaning. All of them said they don't do it. Then I asked if it can't be cleaned, the SA answered no it can't be cleaned. And Isuzu advised them that the only solution is EGR replacement. Then I asked what would happen if I have it cleaned, the SA chocked a bit and said naka ilaw pa din ung CEL. Di lang niya alam na pinalinis ko ung akin and hindi na naka ilaw and halos 1k kms na ang natakbo.hehe Kaya mahirap magpa diagnose sa mga un.

Sir, ano ung dragging-feel ng transmission? Care to expound or explain that or how it feels?

About canopies, try inquiring in Ride Inc or Carryboy in Banawe. I have tried both shops but just roller lid and roll top. Goldcars too in Banawe but not really sure if they have.
