Don't they just look the same like the Isuzu D-max sir, from the old and just so recently - year 2011

Chevrolet D-max (when we see that "Safeguard soap" emblem, we know that it's Chevrolet haha )

Holden Colorado (Holden is the Aussie Chevrolet)

Chevy likes to use the VCDi stamped on its diesel engines, but in all honesty and up until 2011, they were using the same Isuzu 4JJ1-TCX engine that is plugged into non-Philippine issue D-max the world over....

    Cheers!

The Isuzu 3.0-litre 4JJ1-TCX engine shared with the Chevy D-max, Chevy Colorado, and Chevy D-max up until 2011.

    Cheers!

No sir UNFORTUNATELY, we're far laid back here in Philippines - for almost 6 years now we're only getting the year 2004 model 4JJ1-TC "standard" engine, the reason why the D-max here in Philippines is heavily criticised for being slow and weak compared to its competitor.

That one above with the top-mount intercooler is the D-max that comes with the year 2006 model 4JJ1-TC "hi-power" engine (officially named 4JJ1-TCX). It comes with a variable geometry turbo. It was never issued to us Pinoys, and that model will never be seen here in Philippines as for 3rd-4th quarter next year, if the newspaper info were true or correct, the D-max RT-50 will be coming here. By that time, we get to jump 2 generations above from our current D-max model.

i still like the one with the hood-scoop though, looks way better than the all-new RT-50.... But that's just me though

This model sir is not available here in the phils. It is what dmax aficionados here in our country are hoping for but unfortunately, IPC are not able to bring his model here. This is equipped with VGS turbocharger and engine (4JJ1-TCX- 163hp). The model available here in the Phils is the 4JJ1-TC only (146hp). The latest model of Dmax sir that you are seeing on the first few pages is the Dmax RT-50 (177hp) if im not mistaken. The European version of this RT-50 is a 2.5liter twin turbo version. The 3liter is not available there. Also the new RT-50 is now equipped with front coil spring suspension (unlike its previous torsion bar springs) just like what you will find on hilux, strada etc.

Sana nga may ilabas na ng Isuzu phils ung bago nilang dmax sa Nov 8 sa MOA.....Marami rami na din kasi ang umaasa dito sa atin.

Parang akma pa rin yan sir if Isuzu still retains the current "old" D-max as an entry-model for 2013.

The RT-50 is scheduled for release, according to that national daily, in September 2013, it being perhaps the entry-model for 2014.

:naughty2: Hang-on, that means pala sir Casper, modelo pa rin ang 2008 D-max ko for yet another year haha! :hysterical:

    Cheers!

haha.. thanks for the added info guys.. just another question... wasnt the first Dmax to reach PH only an EFI direct injection diesel model? then when the Alterra came over. they upgraded it with the CRDI engine right?

i dont really understand the marketing gimmick of Isuzu Phils.. to think the first gen Dmax came out ahead of the Hilux Vigo in thailand.. but i think it took a year or more after the Hilux arrived here until Isuzu finally brought the Dmax here.. they should have brought in the Dmax here when they brought the Ford all new ford ranger over this year..

Guess which pickup won the International Pickup Award for 2013?

Well, sorry to say, it's the vaunted Ford Ranger
    http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/BU121...award-2013.htm

The all-new Ranger left the playing field this year with a convincing win over the others - usually 6 (or more) pickups are tested all-in-all just like in 2010, when the Volkswagen Amarok at that time brought home the title from amongst its competitors, namely the Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Triton, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-max, and Nissan Navara. Perhaps for this year's comparison, the Chevrolet Colorado and the Mazda BT-50 saw action too although there was no mention about them....

But don't frown fella-Dmax'ers, our Isuzu came in 1st runner-up beating the yet another strong pretender to the title, the reputed VW Amarok, and edged out the others as well. Make no mistake about it, the D-max is also pretender to the crown, but it sits there high next to the Ranger LAVET haha!

    2nd-placer - Isuzu D-max 2.5 iTEQ VGS twin-turbo (163 hp, 400 Nm torque from 1400-2400 rpm)

    3rd-placer - Volkswagen Amarok 2.0 TDi twin-turbo (179 hp, 420 Nm torque at 1750 rpm)

    Cheers!

Just read Butch Gamboa's column in today's Phil Star, he mentioned about the vehicles that will be appearing in the event and mentioned a Special Edition D-Max. I guess no 2013 D-Max for us, next year na lang ulit

Kinda getting tired of these "special" editions that only address the aesthetics. Since the 4JJ1-TCX is already an "older" engine model why can't they already make it work here?

Okay sana if we get something more "special" than just aesthetic improvements. Like a bigger intercooler, better intake, 3" downpipe, and your choice of chip? :D I'd rather have that than some "new" front chin, side skirts, and other bling.

    Hehe

We've always clamoured for this engine and this kind of D-max ever since naman sir, but to no success. Isuzu Philippines is just that lazy for a Japanese company, i'm afraid.... But that's just my opinion.

The engine platform is just the same 4JJ1-TC, just like what is mated onto our Philippine-issue D-max. The only difference is that the OTHER ONE is equipped with a VGT and is more betta-looking with that top-mount intercooler hehe

Chief Toughie_g, who doesn't want the hood-scoop D-max, especially if it's this badass

Ang lupet, seriously-modified ang engine and suspension, perhaps even the disc-brakes!
