Ung Adventure hitting 190kph downhill from Tagaytay ay nabasa ko ata don sa What's your Fastest Speed on a Diesel Engine. Dami nga natawa sa post nya.

Maniniwala pa ko kung Adventure outrunning a Crosswind. Puwedeng puwede pa. Pero an Alterra? hmmm. I need to see proof - sa NLEX.

I drive an SF and once, may Alterra na nakipag-unahan sa akin at the South Super Hi Way from Beundia to Vito Cruz. Well, actually sa Buendia pa lang from Pasong Tamo to Expressway, nagbibirahan na kami. Ako ang nag-invoke sa kanya. Then nagka-abot kami sa Expressway - Buendia intersection heading towards Vito Cruz. Pagka-green, ayon arangkada kami pareho. I could say that the Alterra was an MT kasi nauna sya sa arangkada. my SF is AT by the way. Maya't maya dumidikit na ko sa kanya and dumating ung point na sabay na kami. Magkakabirahan pa sana kaso stop na sa Vito Cruz extension. My point? I could not easily outrun him. Siguro kung mahaba pa bwelo baka naunahan ko na sya. SF na yon ha. You know how torquey ang engine ng SF lalo na ung CRDi. Pero an Adventure outrunning an Alterra??? Hmm. Sa Diosdado Macapagal na lang tyo magkita. he he he. I am not saying I don't believe. But I need to see proof.

Malamang halos 6k RPM yung engine speed nun, which is almost impossible to reach using a 2.5 NA diesel

Hi Blackrose,

You can check ung link na prinovide ni Memphis to see how the DMax / Alterra fared on the offroad challenge. May mga pix pa. The other brands wh tumirik pa nga daw during the challenge.

Alterra is a good choice in SUV:
- better ride than Fortuner
- more fuel efficient than other SUVs in the same league - Fortuner, Everest, SF
- No reported problems yet on the engine. Alterra has been using the 3.0 DDi since 2003 or 2004 I think.
- Decent power for towing loads though it would not win on high speed cruise against SUV on the same league. Pero di mo naman habol ang karera di ba?
- Di madaling tumaob compared to some other SUV na tumaob na DAW.
- Bigger luggage space after the 3rd row seat.
- Robust suspension - sitting on rigid axle (Everest, Fortuner have this too)

adventures 2.5 diesel engine has 75 HP .. lupet no? toyotas D4D 2.5 diesel has 101 HP .. lupet no? so how can 75 HP can reach 190kmh?
