August 9th, 2017 10:14 PM #13Oil spattering in the dipstick with a little smoke is NORMAL brod, specially in "new generation" diesel engines.. Take a moment to read this thread particularly the reply of sir YAPOY. He nailed down this issue very good... As long as it is minimal and not obviously throwing like a fountain, your engine is fine.
Ang problema kasi, maraming nagdudunung-dunungang mga EPAL that they jumped recklessly to a conclusion na blow-by daw ang sira at kaylangan na ng overhaul ng engine, or sira ang engine, or malapit ng worn out na ang engine and the likes when this scenario happens. Worse, so many "under the tree" mechanics are drawing the same conclusion rather intentionally with malice just to earn money.. Worst, even CASA mechanics sometimes tell the same again just to rip the ignorant client off their money! But many still are just plain ignorant. A little googling will give you peace of mind.
But the truth is, IT'S NORMAL and nothing to worry about. Sure, some engines, specially the newer or not so used ones, doesn't have that. But it doesn't automatically means that those who have need an overhaul! Refer again to reply of sir Yapoy (hats off to you sir!).
If you want to know if your engine needs an overhaul, take compression test.. That's the right way to start. Also, a more serious signs like (1) poor or no pulling power; (2) heavy white or blueish smoke on the tail pipe; (3) hard starting; and (4) oil burning/consumption; (5) poor fuel consumption should be given more weight than just mere oil spatter in the dis stick or filler cap.
I SINCERELY HOPE THIS "DIP STICK OIL SPATTERING" concern will now bury to its grave. So many people are being duped because of this nonsense. Thanks.
