I had a friend that told me that he was able to do 24km/L
And had an average of 12-14 for city driving
also with the same route

Hi guys! I read this from another forum... is this possible? thanks.
"hey guys well i am from india and have a 4 month old hyundai 2012 accent known as fluidic verna out here in india manual gears.
well i have clocked around 3100 miles(5000kms) till date the car is still on its factory fill oil. the only difference between the us and indian counter part is we have an mpfi 1.6l petrol engine 123bhp an auto air-con and we do not have eco mode
well to start of with i have been getting rather poor mileage ever since i have got the car. Been reading this forum since a few months and was shocked to see the mileage you guys get.
my driving mostly consists of highway cruising at 40-60mph and a bit say 25% of city stop and go traffic. And the overall mileage i get is around 23.52mpg while if i drive in the city it goes down to 19.87mpg.
have taken it over to the service but all they do is connect g-scan check for any codes and say everything is fine, or pull out the plugs clean them, re gap and then clean the throttle body. Have been to them 4 times but thats all they do, the last time i went there they connected a mileage test kit filled it with fuel and ran the car till a litre was used up and they claimed the car gave a mileage of 18.3km/l(43.04) but the indicator on the console showed 10km/l(23.52mpg).
But sadly nothing has changed. all my calculations are by tank full to tankful(till the brim) method as the auto cutoff is not accurate.
Another issue is with regard to my suspensions. The rear is extremely bouncy, and while going over speed breakers it makes a popping noise, the dealer changed the coil springs as well as the struts but nothing has changed, the car still bottoms outs bounces a lot and scrappes the speed breakers. While on the front suspension we used to get this loud thud thud noise which was fixed by a tsb calling for re-torqing the lower arm bolts to a higher torque. The issue now is that when i drive her initially for a few kilometers every things fine but after some time it makes this squeaking noise every time i pass a speed breaker, or if i go over a speed breaker or pothole a little faster then i would it makes a loud thud noise and jerks are felt on the steering wheel. All they ever do is remove bolts grease them and add them back, now they tell me whatever they could do they have done and leaves nothing to be pointed as being the cause or issue
secondly regarding the engine oil, my levels have dropped to above half and i am planning to go in for an oil change, the dealerships all use 15w40 oil while my owners manual recommend 5w20/5w30 for fuel economy, what should i go with? fully synth or the dealers mineral oil which is api-sl.
we use 91 octane fuel with additives, had used regular 91 octane with no additives and engine appeared rough. Also used 97 octane with additives and the engine was very smooth and gave me more averages.
ok the update now.
i changed my oil at 5000km the dealer was telling me that its not required and so on, still went ahead with it and changed to mobil1 0w40 api-sn, the old oil was black and thick and i still wonder why the change interval is at 10k, the averages have improved from 10l/100km its gone up to 6.25l/100km engine appears very smooth now and responsive.
will make a thread of my car with pictures soon."
First of all I don't own an accent. I cannot comment on the upper part statement of this indian guy because I have no first hand knowledge but regarding the above quoted post I believe this is true. Good quality lubricating oil makes the engine run smooth & results to improved fuel economy.
Hi...hows the fuel mileage for 2009-2010 Starex TCi? How about the VGT? Thinking of getting a used 2009 0r 2010 Starex and I'm weighing my options.
School Break: 10.5l/100km
I'm guessing once school starts, I'll be going back to my usual 13.7l/100km
2011 Santa Fe ReVGT
Mostly city driving only
Hi everyone,
I've been backtracking this thread and the others (the Santa Fe, Tucson, and the Car Comparisons thread) but I couldn't find the answer to my question.
How's the fuel economy of the 2012 Santa Fe REVGT 4x2 compared to the Tucson revgt?
Thank you very much!
Hello Everyone,
Ilan po ang FC ng elantra 2012? Totoo bang same lang FC ng manual tranny nya vs matic? What do u prefer, Manual, matic or 1.8L limited edition elantra?
Any idea po kung kelan irerelease or kung irrelease dito sa pinas yung Elantra and Sonata diesel?

Hi everyone
noob po, question lang about fuel consumption ng 2012 accent ko 1.4 at.
i got it last May 8 lng n nasa 850km pa lng ang tinatakbo.. Pero nakaka 5 full tanks na ko and Based on manual computation.. Nasa 5.7-6km/L po ung fuel consumption ko... I tried having the dealer check it out.. Pero sa kanila 15km/L pa nga daw ung car... Nakakfrustrate lng kasi this is my first car and I thought matipid sa gas ang accent. Totoo po ba nag magiimprove pa pag umabot na ng 1000km?? Prang ang mahal po kasi sobra ng gas... Any advise po?? Thanks in advance!
Bumper to bumper traffic daily? That may explain.
If not, that is very strange for a small cc vehicle.
Hope you did not get a lemon. Read the Accent thread.
My route is from roosevelt, qc.. via del monte.. Espana.. Quiapo.. Lawton then to roxas blvd. Vito cruz...
Sa espana lng ako mostly natatraffic... From welcome rotonda to ust.. Then the rest ok nmn na...
During the 1st 2 weeks ung brother ko ang gumamit. Ang route nya is from greenhills to makati lng.. Ganun din ang consumption nya..
He said na mahal sonra.. Kc ung honda city nya.. 5 years na sa knya pero 10km/L pa dn up to now...
Really strange... And frustrating!!
What lemon? I tried looking for it kaya lng di ko mahanap.. Sorry...
Contrary to popular belief, pag naka matic ka, you have to get the slushbox to shift up to the highest gear possible for your current speed kung gusto mo maka-tipid sa gasolina. This means stepping on the gas pedal and not feathering it.
I know this for a fact because I drove a stick shift carb for the past 7 years at pag naka-karburador ang oto mo at manual pa, kailangan talaga magaang ang paa mo kung gusto mo maka-tipid. I was difficult for me to unlearn my ways but forcing myself to step on the pedal with my new car can bring my fuel consumption up as much as 1.5km/L.
2007 Getz 1.4A/T
Just this weekend, me & my commander + baggage went to Baguio for a short stay
Left Ortigas Ave on full tank of regular unleaded
Pasig to Baguio and back total = 542 km
Fuel used = 6L at Tarlac + 39 upon return to Ortigas = 45L
Result = 12 km/L on really aggressive driving, much heavier pa kami going back due to pasalubong at mga pabilin...
Syempre happy na ako sa result
This car can easily get 15-16 highway kung steady lang sana ako. Kaso hindi eh...![]()
I've been observing my new Accent's fuel consumption for the past couple of weeks and judging by how mine drives, I would think the MT versions have a serious edge vs. the AT when it comes to fuel consumption. (I own an AT, by the way).
For one, the high FC in the AT versions may be attributed to the tranny more than the engine.
The AT version starts to really save on fuel when you hit 3rd. If we base FC solely on the gauge, I would barely go over 10km/100L if I drive my usual way. Unfortunately, even moderate EDSA traffic will render third gear useless and the AT will just play between 1st and 2nd where the FC gauge will read as low as 10km/100L to as high as 26km/100L. If that's the case, half an hour in that kind of traffic will be enough to offset any savings you get from 3rd and 4th.
I can save as much as 3-4km/L operating the slushbox in manual mode, but that defeats the purpose of getting an AT doesn't it?
I'm curious how a light fully synthetic lubricant might help with the FC. I'm currently using Hyundai's in-house 10w-40 Semi-Synth.
2012 Hyundai Tucson Theta II 2.0L GL AT (all stock)
Mileage: 341 km
City driving (moderate to heavy traffic): 15.2L/100km (~6.6 km/L)
Highway driving (No traffic Edsa [6:30AM] to Batino Exit via SLEX: 6.3L/100km (~15.9 km/L)
since break-in pa ako, speed sa SLEX is 80 to 100 kph (medyo aware ako sa speed limits kasi nahuli ako along Commonwealth at 71 kph; 60 kph pala max dun). im using Shell V-Power Nitro+ Gasoline
[pag turbo may problem mausok cya kasi may pumapasok na langis papuntang intercooler isang pinakamagandang pag maintain jan is to wait 3 minutes idling time sa engine before shutting it down lalo na ang turbo mainit yan and may onti langis pumapasok jan kelangan ma settle down nya eto ng 3 minutes para mag cooldown and d matuyo ang langis na pumasok dun kasi may mga vanes jan pag natuyo yan magiging carbon deposit sya and titigas yan sumisira sa turbo one thing can help is the turbo timer and ang turbo engages in 80km up
*andro, thanks for the tip. Ako nga 20 years na ako nagdri-drive ng manual.. so its really hard to unlearn driving ways. Kinda depressing nga yung high fuel consumption ng Accent ko for city driving. Ive tried using the matic mode sometimes, but i always forget to change gears when in matic mode.. and di ako sanay up down lang (+/-), syempre nasanay pag manual e yung "H" modeBut maybe ill try to use that more, see if i can improve FC a bit.
ahhh the Baguio Trip. In Summer 2011 we did that as well. Best drive to date with my bnew (at that time) Accent... Left Manila full tank . Was able to sneak in some 120 kph along Nlex and Sctex (slowing down on "radar-prone" areas, para di mahuli speeding)
nag-gas kami just before climbing Kennon Road. FC ko is 14L /100km, wala pang half naubos sa gas.
Wanted to go back to Baguio this 2012 e, di natuloy sayang. Wish i could take more long out of town trips para naman ma-enjoy talaga ang car. Hanggang Tagaytay na lang kami lagi.. e lapit lang, kuha in 40 mins with no Traffic![]()
