September 11th, 2012 05:45 PM #223If you have plans of owning your car beyond 5 years, following the 5K pms (for multi grade mineral oil) is advisable regardless of the month. For fully synthetic up to 8K but not beyond. The logic behind is that the oil additive that fight acidity (potassium) gets depleted in time, this is determined thru lab testing which is the Total base number. When the anti acid is out, the oil degradation starts. However kung balak mo naman I benta after 5 years ok lang let the buyer inherit the problem later on due to poor lubrication which could lead to early overhaul of engine or turbo failure.

September 11th, 2012 11:24 PM #227Back to topic na tayo baka maging Hyundai thread pa, ang 5 year warranty naman depende naman sa user, kung marunong ka sa makina and you're the DIY type of person wala kana paki sa warranty since mas malaki talaga savings mo overtime if you gonna do it yourself, pero kung wala ka alam sa makina and you would gamble sa mga labas na shop think twice dahil most engines nowadays are far more complicated and equipped with so many sensors na di kaya i trouble shoot sa regular shops. So your best bet is your casa just try to search from your peers (car clubs / forums) sino ang me best service then dun ka.
About the change oil period stick to the 5K km, believe me me reason yan and its too long for me to explain here, kung malayuan byahe mo like if its a company car sa mga ahente you might even reach the 5K km even before your 3rd month. And if you're using a mineral oil, beyond that mark it will start to breakdown, that would put your turbo (if equipped) in danger, then pag nag fail turbo (bearing) mo sunod na makina mo. Which is the reason why your casa would not honor your warranty if you go beyond the 5K km.

September 12th, 2012 01:36 AM #230Lucky you.
