2011 Hyundai Accent issues, problems in general

Just an update to my accent problem:

I pay a visit to my dealer sa Hyundai Las Pinas yesterday to let them check the problem and with the help of my SA (miss Mai) OK na po sya.. hinigpitan lang ung velocity joint, and nawala ung knocking sound...

Sir, correction lang, di po yan yung knocking sound, AFAIK fuel related po ang knocking sound.

Hmm...mukhang nag exhibit narin ng knocking sound accent ko, very intermittent siya at mahina sobra, kailangan talaga pakinggan mabuti.yung tipong biglang tapak sa accelerator may maririnig kang "krak krak krak" sound sa engine.

6.every know and then it lurches when shifting gears, and the acceleration is a tad slow[/LEFT]

+1 here. This delayed acceleration is quite annoying. I went to tagaytay last night and noticed that the RPM will sometimes go to 3K before shifting when overtaking vehicles. I'll ask my dealer regarding this on my 1K PMS. For now, switching to semi-manual mode might be an alternative solution.

Would like to hear from 2011 Accent owners who are having similar or unique car issues. Only 2011 Accent models please. I think majority here would be the 1.4's. 1.6 Blue version is also welcome.

Mine:
- the rather infamous engine-knock..possible culprit: low octane fuel..this car likes to sip on Shell's premium unleaded only (at least most of the time)..still under observation.
- radio antenna..roof mounted antenna broke off from two months brand new..my car cover does not have any antenna hole and might have possibly caused this.
- door handles sometimes sticks..when you open door, handle stays in the 'open' position so you struggle with your door thinking why isn't it closing in? then you have to go back outside and 'push' handles in properly.
- oh, still no plates after 3months.

ask ko lang po paano if premium gas * caltex? ang lilalagay mo anyone do that on there hyundai accent?

Another issue sa accent ko, as i was exiting a u-turn slot, i floored the gas pedal and only the rpm increases, feeling parang naka neutral. Then suddenly biglang pasok sa gear and biglang sipa. Possible accident scenario ito lalu na when merging sa highway, pag tapak mo sa gas you're expecting the car to accelerate pero nothing happens. Then biglang boom parang sinipa ka sa likod as the gear engages. Pang 2nd time palang nangyayari sakin ito pero nakakainis na. Then parang lumalala yung tope ng makina, sheesh

Bro if you love your car, wag mong tipirin.. coz in the long run baka mas mapagastos ka pa ng mas malaki... Kaya ako I always go sa reputable Shell gas station and fill my accent with shell v-power..

Guys, help naman sana. My bronze 1.4AT will be avialable na in less than 1 week. nakapagbayad na ako ng reservation fee, just waiting for the unit to arrive. Pero sa dami ng nababasa ko na masama sa kabilang thread, nagdadalawang isip na ako to upgrade to manual na Elantra or manual na Honda City nalang. Verify ko lang sana sa inyo kung totoo ba ang mga ito: engine knocking at low octane, poor suspension bottoming out, door handles getting stuck in the open position, radio head unit losing power, and inconsisitent yung responsiveness ng acceleration.

Sobrang in love ako sa exterior ng Elantra pero nasasablayan ako sa interior nya especially yung maliliit ng butas ng aircon vent at halatang hinugot yung integrated head unit na ni-replace lang nila ng single-din. Yung City naman di ko type at all pero baka kunin ko lang dahil subok at reliable na. Nauwi lang ako sa Accent kasi maganda naman yung exterior, yung interior okay rin lang naman...not bad yung itsura kahit single-din lang, but most of all nakatipid na ng about 100k naka automatic pa. Pero kung totoo naman itong mga sinasabi nila na sakit ng ulo, baka mag back out nalang ako. Please let me know guys kung totoo ba itong mga issue na ito at kung kuntento naman kayo sa unit niyo. Totoo na experience nila. For my accent 1.4AT bought last Jun 21, na-experience ko pa lang is yung high RPM then bigla sipa when you press the gas hard. I can avoid that kind of situation though so not really an issue for me but I plan to discuss this with my Dealer.

I gas up sa Petron only and XCS only and I don't hear any engine knock. I may gas up at Caltex but not on Shell Premium or Total Protect. 93 octane rating nila pero yung Gold ng Caltex at XCS ng Petron 95. I think I will only gas up on big 3 and in this order , Petron, Caltex then Shell.

Bottoming out, di ko pa na experience ito pero natry ko na fully loaded yung car (5 adults of medium built) and ok naman sa humps. Kaso nababaan ako sa Accent, sumasayad sya sa mga mataas na humps or lubak kaya no plans of lowering her.

Radio issue? Wala pa naman and if ever, this will be with the 3rd party accessory provider ni Dealer and not an Accent issue.

So far, satisfied ako. Binabantayan ko din yang mga issues na yan and kagaya mo, I read all these horror stories 2 months before I purchased but still ended up buying one. Nagandahan talaga kasi ako with the price and features.

Just to comment on this,

- Engine Knock -- so far ("knock" on wood ) -- havent encountered this yet, but ever since i read about the issue, Ive been using Shell unleaded just to be safe.. . Just a question though.. when they say Shell "unleaded", does that mean just the unleaded variant or even the V-Power and Premium variants (w/c AFAIK are technically also 'unleaded'). In any case, I fill up with the (slightly) lower priced unleaded variant. Is it ok do that or is it more advisable to get the Premium or V-Power ones?

- Car Antenna and Car handles.. no issues with me so far... BUT..!!!

- ... my issue is the lever on my driver side to slide the car seat had fallen off... TWICE..!! Thankfully its just something you can slip back in (at a certain orientation or angle, and you have to do it by going down the car to see it better). I guess its what some of the reviewers mean when they noted the interior of the accent to be a little sub-par. Still its no biggie for me as long as it can be rturned properly and doesnt happen that often (perhaps my hand was just too heavy.. hehe)

- Have to unfortunately agree with the bottoming out issue when going over a hump.. with or without passengers, but ESPECIALLY with passngers and loaded trunk.. i find this unacceptable in a new car.. I wonder if replacing the shocks would fix this?

- Fuel Mileage... I envy those posts saying they can get over 10 km/l.. Im averaging just between 6 to 7 on mostly city driving.. :-( Hopefully this will improve, I just got my 1000 PMS and eager to go on a long road trip to get maxxed mileage... (btw I have the 1.4 AT... i hear the MT is more fuel efficient.. I just hope its not more than 1 km/L diff. between the two..)

- "Hatak".. every know and then it lurches when shifting gears, and the acceleration is a tad slow, but i love how smooth it goes even at 100-120 km (so far I can only do this on the skyway.. want to go up to 140kph or more but im afraid i might be accosted by cops for breaking the 100 limit once i reach the exit.. )

Now its been a while since i drove a brand new car (our car is over 10 years old hence we got a new one).. but i did drive our old car back when it was new and i dont remember it to ever be this smooth. In fact, i almost cant believe im travelling 100-120 already if i wasnt looking at the speedometer...

Over all, taking all the good and bad, the good still outweighs the bad issues... here's hoping no more bad issues gets added and that the old ones gets resolved soon...

Im planning to buy this car next month due to its press release 17km/lit. fuel consumption highway or city driving but as you say, it can only get 6-7 for city driving baka di ko na ituloy yung pagbili ko and just stick to my 11 years old car Nissan sentra series 4 that i can get an 8-10 km/lit. city driving. pa share naman nung fuel consumption nung ibang user ng car na ito. Thanks!

sir yung sa akin 1.4M/T im averaging 6–7L/100km equivalent to about 14-17km/lit.(base to sa trip meter ko) mix driving highway/city (slex to shaw edsa). 1600 ODO
