2011 Hyundai Accent issues, problems in general

Ako naman puro shell unleaded lang, kung wala its Caltex Gold naman. I am nearing my 2600km in my odo.
Try other gas locations also just to compare.

Ako nga OFW din, pero Accent pinili ko since as for me bang for the buck itong Accent. Mine a 1.4MT, ang daming features na wala sa ibang cars (sa looks lang ), adding to that the price difference pa.

Initially I was concerned na baka maging problema yung knocking sound (main issue), pero after heeding the advise on to use the recommended fuels, up until now I never had issues similar to the knocking sound.

As said by Sir Meikey all cars have their own issues, kahit pa mga SUV or high end cars, at walang perfect na car diba Brad SG?. Isipin mo wiper lang di mona bibilhin ang kotse...

Ako naman, nirecommend ko sa dalawang kong kasamahan (OFW) na bumili ng accent. Very tempting daw ang price, features at looks e...

Ang problema lang nila ngayon, out of stock ang Accent...

Sir Andretti chill lang, like ive said im just only giving my opinion for the first time car owner like me & di ko naman inimbento lang ung mga issues at problems ng new accent kundi mismo sa mga car owners nangaling ang mga problema kaya nga sinsabi ko sa mga kaopismates ko ang mga advantages & disadvantages ng new accent & they have other options kung sa tingin nila di maganda ang feedbacks ng new accent tutal sila naman ang gagamit ng kotse at pera naman nila un. & Di lang naman wiper ang naging issue sir Andretti, I hope sinabi mo din sa mga kaopismates mo na “sana magkaroon ng silent recall or free recall for the shocks ramdam ko din yung bottoming out issue lalo na pag mabilis at biglang pababa yung daan, parang bus na tatalon talon yung likuran ng sasakyan”. As you’ve experienced.
Maybe I should say, Hyundai should solve these following issues & problems for the future buyers of the new accent that worth the value of their hard earned money.

1. infamous engine knock by using low octane fuel.
2. door handles are sticky, parang naiiwan when pulled all the way out.
3. Rear suspension too soft, easily bottoms out on humps. Have to unfortunately agree with the bottoming out issue when going over a hump.. with or without passengers, but ESPECIALLY with passngers and loaded trunk.. i find this unacceptable in a new car..
4 .every know and then it lurches when shifting gears, and the acceleration is a tad slow
5 .auto door lock nya..sometimes when you push it in hindi nagla lock yung other three door
6. no built-in clock (which I think is very important)
7. materials used for the fuel cover parang plastic. i have to personally open the fuel cover and remove the fuel cap when refueling in fear that gas boys are careless enough to break it.
8. water easily enters the engine bay during washing. pag bukas ng hood basa agad cover nung fuse box, air filter cover, back side of head lights, water stays at the side of the above mentioned areas and most notably sa mga wires nung head lights (i find this very alarming).

9. Another issue sa accent ko, as i was exiting a u-turn slot, i floored the gas pedal and only the rpm increases, feeling parang naka neutral. Then suddenly biglang pasok sa gear and biglang sipa. Possible accident scenario ito lalu na when merging sa highway, pag tapak mo sa gas you're expecting the car to accelerate pero nothing happens. Then biglang boom parang sinipa ka sa likod as the gear engages. Pang 2nd time palang nangyayari sakin ito pero nakakainis na. Then parang lumalala yung tope ng makina,
10. Actually mahina din talaga stock bulbs ng Hyundai they use Osram ata. Tsaka nasa design din ng headlight reflector.

bro na try mo na ba sa caltex? yung gold nila yun na kasi kinakarga ko ngaun. wala naman akong naririning na engine knocking sounds malapit na mag 2000 yung tinatakbo ko. ganda na din FC ko * 12-15 KM per liter

Subukan ko muna sa xcs mga 2 fulltanks just to be sure. Tied up ako sa particular petron station na yun kasi naka P.O. Company ko dun. And sayang din 3% rebate sa bpi card hehe. My current and previous cars dun din ako nagpapa gas and never naman ako nagka problem sa engine knock, even though unleaded lang pinakakarga ko, itong accent ko lang bukod tangi na tumotope. 900 palang odometer ko, irereklamo ko na nga sa dealer on my 1k pms. 3 months na sa akin yung accent pero hanggang ngayon wala parin ako sa 1k odo.

on the first place, I believe no car is perfect. kahit sa advancement ng technology in auto manufacturing may makakalusot padin na mga imperfections specially ngayon puro electronics na.parang yung 2007 2nd gen vios namin less than one year ang dami ko na napansin na imperfections


1.) the bumper is not well aligned. gap between bumper and the hood sa left ang laki ng gap, sa right konti ng gap.
2.) nagpo-pop out lagi yung bumper clip sa may bumper to fender connection.
3.) yung jerking from an A/T experience ko na yan since first week until now meron pa din. tried to consult service pero "OK" lang daw yun. similar to problem 9 mo.
4.) A/T makes some stupid gear changing. like 2nd mag shift ng 3rd tapos di pala kaya, babalik ng 2nd kahit di ko naman pinepressure yung accelerator.
5.) shift lock sira na. kahit walang brake malilipat mo sya sa ibang gear.buti at gate type ang transmission kaya hindi magshishift sa other gears ng basta-basta.
6.) plastics on front doors rattle pag kumakabog ang speaker. you will be forced to turn down the volume or listen BASS-less. consulted it to service also, their solution is turn down nalang daw volume.
7.) you have to hold the trunk door pag binubuksan mo. bumababa ng mag-isa. nasugatan sa ulo dad ko, also our SA with his vios.
8.) my wipers judder with OEM, and 2 brands of banana type.

#7 mo lahat ng cars namin plastic ang fuel cap. unless yung fuel door plastic?

sa xtrail also have the 3 bearings, 2 aux fans and side mirror adjustment motor replaced under warranty.

sa sorento Fuel pump naman pinalitan. according to the report, due to maybe a pellet like dirt entered the assembly which clogged and affected the resistances in the electronic circuitry of the pump.

sa fuego out of CASA wipers are not working and rear doors woudnt open from inside even if child lock is off. after that gave us 300T kms, water pump assembly lang pinalitan.

on our case paraho lang vios kinuha natin. pero akin has issues while yours is perfect. you are lucky. great experience for your first car.

Yup. There's no perfect car. You just have to expect higher quality in high end cars like Germans..

We also have 2nd gen Vios 1.5G A/T, so far naging issue lang yung squeeking sound everytime na umaatras tapos A/C on.

I tried switching to petron xcs after numerous fillups with petron unleaded, sadly meron parin knocking sound. Nag fillup kasi ako na meron pang 2 bars remaining, baka siguro ang nasisipsip pa niya yung unleaded fuel?

I suppose I got lucky with my unit on this one... kasi panay base-unleaded lang kinakarga ko (Petron Unleaded / Caltex Silver / Shell Unleaded) and I don't experience the engine knock...

Umm, I think most of what you've quoted are one-offs / isolated case aside from numbers 1 and 3, and number 10 being subjective or dependent on your eyesight and the tints you have installed on your ride.

To be honest for #10, okay naman ang bato ng ilaw sa akin (Medium tint via 3M), satisfied gawa ng kita ko naman agad yung mga potholes and all the unexpected in Philippine roads. For the wiper-issue naman, to set the record wala namang issue yung akin. #8 made me curious though... hehe could somebody advise kung kaninong unit uli yun? Kasi my unit went through a lot of bad weather for the past 2 weeks and yung natatalamsikan lang naman e yung sa bottom na ng firewall ng chassis sa engine bay. Yung mga fuse box, headlights, okay naman. No offense but basing on experience mukhang na-exaggerate yun... Diyahe nga naman na natatalamsikan yung sa may firewall area pero normal yun kahit sa anong vehicle, mas visible nga lang siguro sa Accent gawa ng spacy yung engine bay niya, kita mo yung kung ano-ano as compared sa ibang auto na hindi well-thought of yung engine bay (sobrang sikip).

Pati ba naman fuel cap pinuntirya? Afaik almost all modern cars plastic na ang fuel cap. Ang huling natatandaan ko na metal cap is yung sa 92 lancer namin way way back. I never had a bmw or benz so i wouldn't know kung metal ang fuel cap nila.

Dami ngang issue ang Accent pero most of the cases are isolated ones and the others IMO all have easy fix, wag lang yung knocking sound na yan. But as for the knocking sound reported by Sir Mrouter, he stated that nawala na daw yung Knocking sound niya e, after using the recommended fuel.

Ok nga at we have this thread para mapagusapan ang mga issues of our own cars, malas mo nalang kung yung type ng kotseng nabili mo e walang nagpopost ng issues...hehehe ang dami pala!!!

Hehehehe, sad to say that those small issues overshadowed the overall aspect of the car.

Like I said, everyone wants a perfect car. Everyone wants the best car that their money can buy. Ang problema, is we are expecting way too much on what the car is positioned for. These are mid class cars, squeezing out production process to come up with a very competitive and reasonable prices. It is in this sense, na you could never expect them to be like those 9-10 digit value euro cars.

What we have is what we thought the best value for money. You can ride as comfortable as those cars twice its price. You have a car that looks way better than its competition (this is subject to one's preferences). Just don't expect it to be as perfect as it can be. Well, if I bought a car whose value is around 9-10 digit, and I have these non-sense issues, then I will be storming my dealer and ask for my money's worth....

sir andretti, wag mo na lang patulan yan. Maraming alam nyan sa kotse. At, wala kang kadala-dala, toyota vios sa kanya, eh hyundai lang ang kaya nating bilhin...

hehehehe, this isn't bragging. My dad's garage has a sta. fe & a toyota fortuner. Me on the other hand, had a honda city 1.3at, and the all new accent 1.4at. As far as I remember, lahat ng cars na ito, dumaan na sa CASA for minor issues, except a mojor one on my dad's fortuner. The infamous d4d fuel choking & fuel pump issue. His sta. fe has also that very soft suspension setting. My honda city has busted thermostat while still on 8K kms. My accent, wala so far. But I am not expecting that it is as perfect as it can be.

Problema na lang nito if may issue, is kong papano ina-address ang issue.

And remember na comparing car brand "A" and car brand "B" is a never ending issue.... Kaya peace na lang tayo, and let's just enjoy each of our own ride....

Pero nakakabahala din kasi kaya nga tayo bumibili ng brand new para iwas na sakit ng ulo. Mapa hyundai man siya o toyota o whatever. For me tiwala ako sa reliability ng hyundai (pang 3rd hyundai ko na itong accent). So far problem free naman yung GS ko (knock on wood!)mas madami pa nga ako naging issues sa other brands like toyota and ford. This goes to show na kahit ano pang brand nabili mo pwede kang matsambahan.
