Not saying that their oil sucks, or that it's bad. What I was trying to point out was the fact that their "in house" fully synthetic oil was rated 15w-50. Although the value of fully synthetic oil is mostly because of it's composition and not it's weight, fully synthetic oils outside the casa that have lighter weights are basically the same price, maybe even slightly cheaper.

For new cars, lighter oils help fuel consumption because it allows the engine to move more quickly vs heavier oils. Lighter oils also get to critical parts up on top of the engine faster than heavier oils, specially during cold starts.

    On Fuel Consumption:
I have not driven the car enough to get a solid feel of whether the fuel consumption has improved or not. At best, my butt dyno tells me that the engine is starting to open up and is becoming more consistent in the feedback that it is giving me.

Right now, my odo only reads 1100kms. Majority of the people I've spoken with tell me that fuel consumption at this point in time should not be something that I need to keep an eye on. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and will not lose sleep over it until over 5K odo. Right now, I'm doing 8km/L pure city driving, in moderate traffic conditions 70% of the time.

    On knocking:
I have not heard any knock from the time of my last post. Don't get me wrong, I've worried about it so much that I expect to hear it everytime I drive the car. I'm happy I don't hear it, but just to manage my expectations, I keep in mind that it can still come back.

I can't confirm the extent of knocking that the other have experienced, but the last I've heard from mine was very, very short - think about a can of evaporated milk with thicker material and a spoon hitting the inside of the can twice in rapid succession. Before, I hear it when the tranny downshifts - usually from third to second or second to first.

    Hope this helps.
Thank u so much for this.. Come to think of it... I hear a knock when it downshifts but i thought.. May bato lng na tumalsik sa car... Something like that... Kaya it didn't bother me.. So i just have to let the service guy update the ecm right?

I'm hoping that my fuel consumption improve after this...

Sorry for a lot of questions since this is my first car and i dont know anything about it...

Just a word of caution though...

Don't get caught up in the feeding frenzy. In the same manner that some people may not be complaining about their Accents because they do not know what to look for, there are people who also start hearing things just because they read too much about the problem and its symptoms.

I know somebody who went ahead and had the ECU upgraded just because he thought he started to hear knocking sounds from his engine. Ayun, inupgrade yung ECU hindi naman pala kumakatok yung makina in the first place...

If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

You hit the nail in the head sir.

Anyway this is my accent's fuel consumption from the previous full tank fill. 40% City, 60% provincial highway and I travel 34KMS a day...

Type of fuel? hehehehe, I gas up on almost all brands. TOTAL, PETRON, SHELL, FLYING V. I don't have any issues at all except that I notice na parang mas ok yong consumption ng sasakyan on shell unleaded. However, I am very picky with the gas station na pinupuntahan ko. I always choose the newly built stations, if not, yong mga stations na maraming customer where inventory movement of fuel is fast...

Very good rate of fuel consumption, bro...

What are with the keyhole, three dots, and car icons on top of the L/100Km icon... What are they for?...

sir @cvt, It's visual representation lang po on "Distance to Empty" aproximation, apart from the main fuel gauge on the rightmost side of the display..

The day I got my accent, my fuel consumptions plays within that range.. Although I must say a variance of I guess around +5-10% on manual computation ng kilometer run against fuel consumed.

However, as a proven fact, masyadong mahina ang hyundai pagdating sa underchassis. I've got some weird stuffs happening on my accent, but I am glad that my dealer served me well as I don't have to raise my eyebrows to claim any warranty.

Thanks for the response bro. Interesting icon/s...

On the Km/L or L/100Km gauge/s,- I guess it is the same for all car manufacturers. I have the same experience with our Honda and Toyota vehicles, too.....

True... Tuloy ngyon super conscious na ko if may maririnig ako or wala... Just a question though.. Since nung binili ko sya..shell unleaded na ung gamit ko... Pero many advised na mag premium ako... Ok lng ba to gas up with premium kahit na may laman pa na unleaded? Like today may 3 bars pa ako.. Pwede na ba ko maglagay ng premium? N eto ba ung shell nitro+?
