I think tama lang price ng Genesis Coupe dito unlike Genesis sedan.

Question nalang is how serious our local Hyundai distributor in pushing it cuz I noticed till now "by order basis" pa ren sya and I don't see any test drives being offered.

Sayang if the Coupe will just end up like the Genesis sedan dito cuz it would have been a nice real sportscar for the "masses".

Actually the Geneis sSedan is alo nicely priced kung maalis lang talaga yung Korean stigma. Malaki ang Genesis sedan kasing laki na ng 5 series BMW or E class Merc pero presyong 3 series and C class...

Yup, Genesis Sedan sure is one big step forward for Hyundai, just like the Genesis Coupe.

Since Hyundai still doesnt have the image, they can mostly compete with price. I think Genesis Sedan would sell if it was priced around 2.3M max.

But then again, when Genesis Sedan was launched last year, Korean Won wasn't as depreciated as now.

hindi ako magugulat na mayroon mga bibili ng mga 1.9M na top of the line genesis coupe and they think what they bought is value for money kasi mayroon 1.4M na coupe.

feeling ko yan 1.4M na genesis coupe baka fabric lang seats nyan, no sunroof, regular masa sedan tires. the only plus factor is the exterior body mould of the true genesis coupe.

Exactly! Even the top of the line is still a few hundreds of thousands cheaper than the competitor. Biggest competitor being the Mitsubishi Eclipse and dare I say the Nissan 350Z...

i would trade in my "fully loaded' 1st gen mazda 6 for a bareboned 2.0T genesis coupe... its that simple! leather seats, sunroof etc its not important... what's important is the engine and the rwd platform

The differences between 3.8L, 2.0L and 2.0L Base models:

    http://www.motioncars.com/carchart/h...esis_coupe.htm

Despite the lack of "goodies", the base model is very much sulit at P1.4M!

Anyone know the different colour variants?

if mits evos/eclipse and gen coupes are of the same engines, methink safer to go for V6. if you would recall the comment of motioncars regarding evo IX "short longevity". also fewer moving parts (turbo) lesser stuffs to breakdown.

I saw a V6 Tibbie and a turbo-4 Genesis Coupe next to each other at the dealership while my V6 Sonata was getting an oil change.

The size and resemblance to each other is uncanny minus of course, the front view. That's good. The Tibbie had always looked good.

I was just remembering some bonehead I was talking to who kept saying it looked similar to the G37. I'm sure if you put a G37 and a Genesis Coupe side by side, the differences will be like night and day.

The 4B11T Evolution X engine, whose basic architecture the Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T shares, is a completely different engine series from the 4G63T.

And where does it say in motionars that the Evo IX's engine has "short longevity"? There are some versions of the 4G63T that are not as stout as others, but 4G63Ts are pretty darn robust.

i think not. sabi sakin ng mga mazda mates ko dati usually daw ng mga V6 sisirain and hard to maintain. lalo na sa experience ng kakilala kong manager with his v6 tribute. pero siguro depende nga naman yan sa gumawa ng v6 na makina yun

The new generation of Hyundai V6 which debuted in the 06 Sonata is the 3.3-3.8 Lambda. I can attest that it's a very good engine.

I'm quite abusive with my cars. I had a 91 DSM with the 4G63 Turbo engine. It started to leak oil in the 3 year mark.

I've had my 06 3.3 V6 Sonata since 2005. It's now 2009. Not a leak in sight and that V6 still purrs like new.

Compare that to the shuttle car of my car's service center which is a previous-gen V6 Mazda 6. That V6 Mazda 6 was probably prone to abuse as well. But, it's V6 already shakes and sounds labored like many 4-cylinders. I'm not sure if the V6 Mazda 6 (Duratec 3.0?) is the same as the Tribute's. But, it should be in the same family as my 95 Contour's 2.5 V6 Duratec.

My 06 Sonata is on the 4-year mark and the only thing to have gone wrong was the driver side sun visor which I broke. That was under warranty and replaced free of charge. But, the 3.3 engine's been great so far.

It will all depend immensely on the V6 in question...

I think the V6 in the Tribby is/was the Ford Duratec... same as in the Mazda6... supposed to be a decent engine, but I'm a bit wary... as compared to the smaller Mazda four-cylinder engines, which are variants on the Duratec/MZR series, which are relatively robust.

True, there are a lot of V6s out there on the market that have their "quirks"... The VQ in the Cefiro and its propensity to eat headgaskets, for example, but you can't categorically state that all V6s are lousy based on one particular model and engine. It's like saying that all four-cylinder engines are pieces of crap because yours blows up every 5,000 kilometers...

Sat in one at the dealership when we picked up our new Dodge Magnum. Pretty nice sitting next to the four door Genesis with the V8. The dealer had a 2.0T for a asking price of $28K which is not bad, maybe we'll look into it in few years when four doors isn't a requirement anymore. Although my wife did like the four door with the V8 the price is just too much though since they wanted $41K for it. I'll say this much for Hyundai they have definitely gone up in quality in fit and finish, maybe the US big 3 can learn something from them.

Buying a new Dodge Magnum? I thought that model was going away.

The 4-banger turbo Genesis Coupe's supposed to be in the low-$20k's. For $28k, I'd be gunning for the V-6 or else the new Camaro V-6 (the Ford Mustang V-6's still wimpy). That one will have the new Caddie's Direct Injection V-6.
