it's only logical to retain the Starex GRX. kasi kahit na-priced at 1.2M mabili-mabili pa din sya among the practical folks with families.

syempre kapag naging 1.7M na lang ang option na bnew Starex, hindi na volume sales eto

    +1.

I think the Starex's major selling point was its value for money. Here's a van that looks better than most bread vans, but can still haul almost as many people, or is versatile enough to haul people and cargo, depending on one's liking. All that, initially, for under P1M, but now, for P1-1.2M. It's more expensive than it was initially, but hey, it's a helluva lot more powerful now, and compared to its competition, it's still comes out cheaper. So, if you take this particular unit out of Hyundai's equation and replace it with the newer, but higher end and more expensive model, you're not gonna sell as much, and people are likely going to be looking elsewhere, like Toyota and Nissan showrooms. The nice thing about having both new and current Starexes is it will be able to do "battle" with Toyota's minivan/van lines (i.e. Previa and Hiace) on its own.

I hope they just change the CRDi line rather than adding an 'upscale' one.

that, my friend, is why HARI wants to retain the GRX variant and replace the Gold variant. But i hope that they should just change the turbo of the GRX to VGT para eliminated na turbo lag at mas lalo pang lalakas hatak

The transmissions come from Aisin (the Japanese company that makes 4x4 components and transmissions for major Japanese manufacturers). They should be pretty reliable when maintained properly.

It's nice to know they maintained the conventional backing mirror on the tailgate. Perfect for people like me who do not like to rely on some beeping thingie to tell me what's behind the vehicle.

Parang cramped ang legroom ng 12-seater LWB version. Wala bang interior shot ng SWB prototype?

Guys will someone please offer a definite info as to the release date of the NEW starex??? I just went to the Hyundai showroom the other day to take a look at the "old" Starex and was thinking on buying one in a day or two. Good thing I browsed the internet. But if the release date will still be sometime next year then I'll probably get the "old" one.

    Nice!

Looking at the photos, I imagine the 9 seater to have more legroom. I love the multi-purpose middle jump seat/tray/cupholder/armrest design. The rear exterior looks like a xerox copy of the MB Viano. Does MB still have an existing technology tie-up with Hyundai?

Oh, by the way, I heard they'll be using the 2.5 Liter, CRDi engine. Anyone know if it's VGT already?

    TIA

i bet they will use Hyundai's version of the 2.5L CRDi VGT found in the Kia Sorrento. thus, power is around 170hp.
