i think coil springs are more bouncier than torsion bar springs set up.. thats why the rear of the starex is bouncier,,, just replace the rear shocks with KYB gas charged shocks it should handle better....

The current Starex is quite bouncy. I think they did this to make it all the more a better highway cruiser. Nga lang, with the way our roads here are built, the waves on them are magnified thus a boaty ride. Stiffer rear shocks should help.

As to inhaling fumes from outside the cabin, I noticed our Starex doing so on a few occasions. It's not as free flowing as activating the "fresh air" button", but some outside vapors seem to creep in. Perhaps there's something defective with the air recirculation function, or is it the A/C's design?

Kahit new pumapasok ang usok? Maybe they should have it fixed at the dealer! Pero AFAIK as a car gets older, talagang mas pumapasok na ang outside air. Ginagawa ko pinapapermanently shut ko yung AC vent. Puwede naman mag bintana kung kailangan ng fresh air eh.

this has been 1 of my observation too even if I'm the driver of the van. may pumapasok nga na fumes, lalo na pag bumper to bumper traffic.

hate na hate ko pa naman pag ganito ang sasakyan. and to think kaka-2 months pa lang ng starex namin

during our last trip and after I threw up, I relocated myself in the middle row. nawala naman yun hilo and I watched 24 season 1 pa nga hehehe. but after an hour, eto na naman. hindi lang hilo, yun tipong napapapikit na parang may toxins sa lalamunan ko. I threw up again sa house na.

If memory serves me right, yun first time na binyahe namin ito starex para mapa-bless sa Manoag. pagdating namin sa house, lahat kami kama kagad ang hinanap and that's only 2pm (we left 4am). I thought napagod lang kami noon.

pero I'm not the type na nasusuka/nahihilo sa byahe eh, sa sobrang dami na naging provincial trips ko, dito lang sa starex ko na-experience ang ganito.

Guys, this is the topic for the soon to be released TQ Starex. If you are referring to the current model, please post in the current model Starex thread. Thanks!

i think this is the starex that my dad will like. he still thinks na sirain pa rin yung starex ngayon, kahit na common rail pa engine nito. he's always saying na there's no problem with the common rail engine of the current starex, the problem of the current starex is with the tires, outlet vents and ticking sound of steering wheel. he said those to me dahil may dalawa syang friend na doctor rin na wala pang six months mga starex nila eh ganun na lumalabas na sakit.

i also hope na independent multi-link na yung rear suspension nito, hindi na rigid axle 5-link coil spring.

i agree with the problem on Starex OEM tires. i hope they replace these tires with those ready to handle our tropical weather and "beautiful" roads.

IMO, mas OK pa yung local Goodyear tires in withstanding the heat and poor road conditions natin.

mataas po sya. actually compared to our Santa FE, konti lang ang difference sa nila ground clearance.

Wala naman sa ground clearance ang baha. Nasa placement ng air intake and other critical parts.

Ironically, some SUV's have such low air intakes, an MB100 van could beat them when it came to water fording.

Madali lang magpataas ng sasakyan. Kahit magpalit ka lang ng gulong tataas na siya. Combined with suspension adjustments, lalo pa. It always increases rollover risk though kaya kung konting diprensya lang, think it over more if it's worth it.

how much would the starex tq be introduced in the philippines? i overheard soneone saying the new starex would be prized at around 1.7M. tama kaya ito? do you think this would be too much for a van or is it just right because of a new overall design in and out and maybe better quality.

I think malalaman natin yan later this year pag lumabas na sya..Yung older Starex(yung GRX at Pro) will be retained daw dahil narin expected na presyong Hiace GL Grandia-Urvan Estate sya..

Salamat naman at wala na tong 4WD variant...

^^ can you confirm this? and if the grx will be retained, that means it's still CRDi powered? and then the gold variant will be replaced by the new starex?
