Default Under warranty Civic FD losing motor oil- normal according to Honda SA- Ingat lang

It seems to be a normal SOP for Honda Service Advisor to tell you that a Honda losing oil is normal. So I told the SA that we have an Accord, back home and have a City a long time ago and none of them loss oil in 5tkm of travel. So they come up with a new BS saying that new Honda's normally loses oil..... Wow! So now I mentioned to them that if they check the internet... it is known all over the world that this a warranty related issue.

So now they own up to the problem and called the warranty guy to process my request. Now, he told me another thing.. he said that Honda Philippines requires them to top up my oil and have it further monitored. So I mentioned.. "monitored until I run out of warranty"?

He then told me that a lot of people try to claim this warranty upon knowing the issue from the net. I nearly choke with his reply... Who in their right mind will want to have their factory assembled, no issue engine opened up by a Technician, wait for 7 days without a car while being repaired. So obviously another BS by Honda Phil.

This is obviously a known issue and instead of Honda having a recall... they rub salt to your wound by covering it up and making it a hassle to file a warranty (monitor BS) when they are caught red handed.

I posted this so people will know and should check their oil in between warranty tune ups. Because Honda Service Centers will not tell you that your engine was losing oil. They will just do the normal change oil. Once you also noticed, you will be told the "Normal" BS.

    Where is your car maintained?

Try the SPA along Mindanao Avenue, and/or write feedback on their website. They do respond naman.

    Thanks Sir.

I wont name them for now. They will actually process the warranty claim. However, Honda Phil requires them to have the monitoring sheet filled up 1st. The monitoring sheet requires them to log an oil loss after a top up for 3X.

Normally this is not an issue, but my Civic only logs in like 8TKM mileage per year.

Hindi ba normal or part ng PMS to top up with 1 liter of oil every 5,000 kilometers? Madaming oil ba ang nawawala sa inyo sir?

From the backstory, it sounds suspiciously like HONDA SHAW.

check exhaust for signs of burning oil... (google it)

valve seals / piston rigns are culprit of loss of engine oil...

check your user's manual, our 2nd gen CRV says check engine oil every refuel

Let them put in writing that you filed the warranty claim before the end of the warranty, and make them guarantee that they will fix it under warranty after the monitoring if it's proven that the vehicle loses oil.

    -

How often do you check your oil? And how many kilometers are on the car? Vehicles that are on long drain intervals sometimes drink a little oil between change intervals, but it takes extenuating circumstances... sitting in very hot, very heavy traffic all the time or racing the car up to redline on the highway and banging it off the rev limiter...

If your car loses only half a liter to a liter (the F and L marks on the dipstick are usually 1 liter apart) in 5k, not a big issue. If it loses a liter every thousand or two thousand kilometers, then that's a big issue.

Looking at the US sites... the problem is that Honda uses 0w20 oil there for everything, which might just be too thin. What oil do you have in your R18?

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    - This is actually what the monitoring file is for. To compute oil loss per X kilometer.

    - They actually "Verbally" said that this is okay.... but of course... verbally.

    - I dont usually check my oil regularly. But I already noticed it when I bought the unit at 5tkm

    - Losing oil is a big issue to me. I started driving 20 years ago in college with a Toyota Corona, then a Nissan Sentra, A Honda City, Another Honda City, An Accord, and the latest is this. all of those cars did not lose any oil. Not to mention the cars of my Dad and brothers.

    - Im using the Honda synthetic Oil. The car is under warranty and they are the one touching it.
