Know what sells the Civic in the Philippines? "Exclusivity"
It's because the Civic isn't used as a taxi, it's viewed as a rich person's car in the Philippines.
In the US and Canada, the Civic sells because it's cheap.
In Japan, the Civic is dead. Simply because it's too expensive.
40 units a month? More like 40 a year. That's about how well the Pilot sold last time it was offered. And when it was offered, the new Ford Explorer and the CX9 weren't out yet.
Granted, the Odyssey, since it's prettier, has a better chance of succeeding and might actually hit around a hundred units a year... but forty a month is a bit optimistic.
If Honda has to import showroom units, that represents a big expenditure in marketing, stocking and dealer incentives for very little (if any) profit.

Pero kung gas-powered na rin naman, Explorer na. Tapos Jimny nalang pangharabas haha.

Oo malaki nga yan Odyssey. Pero di sya mukhang 2.8m sa totoo lang.
If priced at P2.0M, Honda Phil wouldn't be receiving so much flak right now. Greed and prestige aside, Honda Phil and the Odyssey have become casualties of the way CBU US are taxed (is it 100%?).
In the US, the Odyssey EX-L starts at USD$ 35,025 (MSRP) which is about 1,513,430.4 Php. You can see at 2.8M, the price has doubled.

Grand Livina category atang mai-cacategorize yung smaller Odyssey. Pero mas maganda yung itsura nun IMO hehe.
USDM Odyssey ayun yung nasa pics, mas malaki similar sa Toyota Sienna.
BTW di ba dati nagkaroon na ng rumors na yung Honda Kalookan daw nagparating ng USDM Odyssey. Kaso obviously tinanggi ng HondaKal. Sabay ngayon ni-launch na talaga hehe.
It's nice that Honda made them locally available. At least more choices. But I have misgivings it will help Honda significantly increase its market share here. The target buyers are not that many.
Filipinos want their SUVs and larger-sized people haulers to sip diesel.
