Thanks guys for your very informative insights, I'am currently using a civic which consumes average of 10km/L city driving but i'am planning to upgrade sana to a SUV, pero based on your inputs, medyo malakas nga ang crv compare to this car, anyway, thanks again.

    Hi Tsikoters!

Medyo bago lang po ako dito i'm about to purchase a 2nd hand honda civic 2000 VTI. Tanong ko lang po kung ano fuel consumption nito especially sa mga owner kung ano experience nila.

And with this type of model ano po ung medyo dapat bantayan in terms of maintenace.

    Thanks!

anybody own the new 2.0 civic with paddle shifters? whats your fuel consumption?

im wondering if there's a big difference of fuel consumption between the 1.8 and 2.0...

I think it's pretty significant. At its worst, the 1.8 gets 8 km/l, but it can hit 10 km/l plus in good conditions with normal driving (urban). The 2.0 can hit 7 km/l. I'm not sure if it's as bad as the old one (7-8 km/l urban, 6 km/l if you're unlucky), as it's got a remapped ECU and throttle programming, as well as a new 5-speed box.

I'll ask my uncle. He's had both generations of Civic 2.0. I've been planning to get both cars together for a test-drive / photoshoot, but I haven't had the time.

According to my friend mga ganito rin (M/T). What I like about it is the torque & throttle response, walang kahirap hirap, parang endless na yung hatak eh (all the way to 7k rpm, hihi!) Hehe, sowi OT po!

Ang alam ko sa mga Japan-made Civics (different from ours na made in Laguna), they sell 1.8L variants na may paddle shifters.

I dunno how this could affect over the non-paddle shifter 1.8 models sold here pero if it does, then it shows that manual over ride function does have its benefits (if it indeed does have).

so its safe to say that the current 2.0 civic does have better fuel efficiency than the 2.0 gen2 crv? 8-10km/l is not bad at all..sa a/t mga 7km/l (medyo baba na..)

I think mas matipid ang 2.0 ng civic compare sa 2.0 ng crv. mas magaan body. isang beses lang ako naka 8+km/l sa crv 2.0, the rest between 6-7km/li na. civic ka na lang na 1.8s. (para mainggit ako sayo..) hahaha!

like what i posted in the other thread, ours is averaging between 8-9 kms/liter. pero bumabagsak ng 7kms/liter pag minamalas sa traffic. we seldom use the paddle shifters simply because it is somewhat of a hassle in city driving.

imo i think the car can post an average consumption of up to 9+ kms/liter if the driver/drivers can only restrain himself/themselves from being too harsh on the accelarator.

yeah, i think so. it makes me wonder why rudy can get 9.5-11km/li. siguro nga dahil sa sohc.

It's not the SOHC versus DOHC. It's because the R-series engine is more optimized for fuel efficiency than the older K-series.
