if magbabasa ka sa HCP, most users will choose gen1 over gen2. lagi nila sinasabi gen1 is the best crv yet.
my gf drives a 2000 gen1 a/t, clocking at 60,000km.
comfort = good
fuel consumption = +/- 7km/l
features = basic (nothing fancy. no vtec yet. but power is more than adequate)
durability = good (1st owned kasi and well maintained)

GEN 2 owner
1. tough body magandang bihisan
2. 9km/L city 12-13km/L highway
3. Superb
4. Excellent.!
for me nasa owner na lang yun, kung gusto nila imodify ang rides. we are to adjust the pros/cons of our vehicle.. nasa mga likings naman natin para gumanda at magamit natin na sulit ang napili nating sasakyan.. kung baga pareho yan meron 4 (apat) na gulong at makina. para humaba ang service. dapat ito'y alagaan..

sir gen 2 yung 9km/l? the best we got was 6km/l. even mga kakilala ko na naka gen 2, around 6km/l lang.
first gen pa rin the best talaga. it has power and comfort.
1. sound cruiser, pero kung standard, same same ng gen 2
2. 7km/l gen 1 (hondabot is claiming 9km/l for gen 2)
3. same same lang. k20 mas mahal ng konti pyesa than b20
4. mas ok riding comfort ng gen 1 IMO

January 13th, 2011 06:13 PM #5If budget permits, I would pick the Gen2.5
It has improved ride over the "10 Seater" Gen 2. Gen 1 is roomy but the
Gen 2 is really roomy inside. Power is adequate already in 2.0 so 2.4 would
even be better. Gauges are really nice.
The Gen1 still looks good even today specially if well maintained for me parang
classic na yun looks. The Gen2 I really don't like the design so much but the Gen2.5
still looks up to par with new cars today.

i presume hondabot's is a manual; i don't think 12 kpl is possible in the automatic gen 2.
i also get 8.5-9 kpl in an automatic gen 2 auv, combined city and highway. most of the time, i just cruise up to 2000 rpm, because the engine's economy mode is below 2200 rpm. we've measured 7.5 before but it never did worse than that. i believe the FC can go as low 6 kpl if the daily route is a crawl, and if the atf and oil aren't good anymore.
i just like the bench front seats and 3rd row.

Chiefs your right im using GEN 2.5 Manual i always check the km [A] and [B] kada karga ko sa GEN 2.5 i dnt know why its 9km/L yung consume ng CR-V siguro wala ako mintis sa change oil kada 5K km change oil ako kaagad. change air filter, change oil filter then kada 10k change fuel filter ko..
Usual driving ko:
1. hindi ko hinaharurot sa metro manila..
2. kung malapit na sa stop light down shift na ako
3. speed limit ko sa metro manila 80/kph
4. i dnt rev it like im making a race with a civic 96 na pormado (namiss ko na.)
5. i use always Hi-Octane (advice ng mechanic ng honda sa Q.Ave) alam natin mahal ang V-POWER pero sulit ang sunog ng gasolina not like Unleaded ubos agad. tipid daw pag Hi-Octane.
6. good tire pressure 28 front / 30 rear
7. every 6 months cleaning A/C "always"
8. harurot ko sa highway mas double tipid.
9. 1k a week budget ko pero kung meron extra lakad dagdag 500php
10. always check my fan motor and level of my coolant for my raidiator..
Matikoloso ba CHIEFS.. kaya siguro nakaka 9km/l ako sa MM...

ok 'yan. ika nga, nothing beats a well-oiled machine. our gen 2 auv's casa-maintained, so i'm using honda (idemitsu) 5w-40, honda atf, and honda everything else. instead of having frequent aircon cleaning, i got a pair of cabin air filters for the aircon. nilalagay ito sa likod ng glove compartment.
sa experience ko naman, i'm getting better kpl with 93 super unleaded vs. v-power. once in a while, i use petron gas saver (formerly known as lubritop), it's a gas additive that cleans the fuel system. you can get this at petron stations at ~50-70 pesos. 2000 rpm driving style with no unnecessary speeding or hard braking.
gen 1 looks better imo and all of them have rt4wd. i prefer the later versions with the 150ps b20.
gen 2 is more practical because of the space, and the extra seats in some versions. crash test ratings are good, too.

For me the only thing the 2nd gen CRV has over the gen 1 is space and the 3rd row seat ( for the first few units released in 2002 ). Other aspects the gen 2 CRV pales in comparison with it's predecessor.
One feature they should incorporate in EVs is speed limiting based on the keyfob you hand over to...
