it's understandable for honda to increase their price. what i want to know is how much is the invoice price of their cars, not the msrp.
they cant continue raising prices everytime they release a new model be it a facelift/upgrade or a completely new car . ano yan after 10 years 1.3 to 1.5 million na ang compact cars? in 1996 a civic vti is around 560k i think. after 15 years it breached the 700-900k range which for me is the perfect price range for compact cars. just below the psychological ceiling of 1million. ok na yun. taas sila ng taas, hinde naman tumataas ng purchasing power ng majority ng pinoy. personally, ok lang naman talaga tumaas kaso napupush ung nasa ibang segment. like the compact suv's and mid size suv's. kaya apektado ako hehe bute sana kung nagtataas ang honda pero ang iba hinde sumusunod. kaso magtataasan lahat ng branda. if in 1996 a civic is 560k, the corolla then was at 540-550k naman. sige magtaas kayo honda pero sana ung iba hinde na sumunod. asa.
Pero as usual may bibili parin nyan.
kaya tayo its about time tangkilikin natin yun ibang brands para hindi gaano lumaki ulo nila
let us show our support to those who are bringing home the bacon hehe
buti nalang hindi magkakasama sa grupo yan hyundai , honda, toyota etc na yan...
buti nalang hyundai galit galit tayo attitude

the prices of honda cars go up yearly no matter what. di lang sa pinas ang price increase but in the US as well. you have to take into consideration the increase of employee salaries/benefits/transport of parts and the actual vehicle... overhead... cost of production will only go up, hence the price increase. all car manufacturers face this issue. it's unfortunate that sa pinas, eh, napapansin ang honda because of popularity. don't get me wrong, toyota is more popular -- tingnan mo na lang sa number of sold units. but for non-taxi vehicles, honda is the more affordable, yet expensive when compared to econocar lineup.
but don't fret, the higher price will give you better engine -- reliability wise... safer body structure in case of collision which will save your life if it ever happens to you... and, oh, yes... honda cars will hold its value years down the road compared with other cars...
with regards to the lata label, that's part of the crumple zone of the ace body structure. gone are the days where the cars are made of hard metals. with this crumple zone, it will lessen the rate of fatalities if the vehicle gets involved in a very serious accident. i have witnessed an accident where the car is unrecognizable after the accident, but the driver of the vehicle has only minor injuries -- but alive and well... and the car, the lata covered honda civic.
with the plastics inside the cabin... all econo cars have hard plastics... everywhere. you will get what you paid for... but with honda, you will get a better engine, a better car i the long run. if you want a non-plasticy interior, buy a luxury vehicle.
other car companies can afford to have lower prices because they can cut corners. for example, compare civic with mazda3 in the philippines. the entry level of civic has 140ps compared to 105ps for mazda3. that alone is a clear way to cut the price. you will get a cheaper car with a lousy engine for a subcompact car. now try to put 4 passengers in both cars, see how the cars perform... just comparing family cars where the chances of having 5 people in the car is possible.
now compare accent's entry lever transmission with city's. accent has a 4 speed automatic transmission compared to 5 for city. 4 speed is a thing of the past, and yet is being sold in the philippines. ok. 4 speed prolly can catch the 5 speed tranny, but do you really want to buy an obsolete tranny?
There's really nothing so advanced about a torque converter automatic transmission. Its been around for more than six decades already. The more gears present in a transmission gives the vehicle a better fuel efficiency (as the engine can spin at a lower rpm) for long highway drives.
Now if a dual clutch automatic transmission (like that found in the Fiesta or Focus) were to be compared to with an ordinary torque converter automatic transmission, then it can be said that some penny pinching has occurred.
The majority of A/Ts here in the Philippines are still 4 A/T examples are the Vios,Innova,MS GLS V,Ford Everest,Toyota Fortuner,Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6,Mazda 3, Suzuki Swift, Suzuki Vitara etc..
well first, the civic and mazda 3 is a compact car. and not a subcompact. i wouldve believe everything you said if atleast you got this very simple fact right.
second, a more advance technology doesnt meant it has to be more expensive. hondas are mass production cars! i bet it doesnt cost much more to make a 5 speed transmission than a 4 speed transmission. computers are much cheaper now compared to 5-15 years ago. yet its more advance than anyone could've imagined that time.
third, what is the justification of raising the price of say a 2010 honda civic V fd by more than 100 THOUSAND PESOS since its launch in 2006?! its basically the same car with VERY minor upgrades!
first, thank you for pointing that out. but my 7th gen civic is still in the subcompact category. and oh, it has 127hp, not 104ps.
second, did you read my comparison? i compared apple with apple. seriously dude, you want to compare computers with car engines?
third, have you read my other post about invoice price? you might want to learn more about it so you will be armed with knowledge next time you buy your next car. it is unfortunate that philippine government is not mandating manufacturers to give this information to the public. but once you learn the invoice price, you can negotiate better. also, the price increase is plain economics. outside the philippines, actual money is being paid for services and parts -- no freebies. honda is a publicly traded company, where stockholders own shares. stockholders will not invest in honda if they will be gaining money if not losing. however, not all money goes to profit, a big sum of them goes to research. no research, no technology, no safety, no tomorrow. you want status quo? honda is not your company to look up to.
