No extension, no mercy.

Even if you show some mercy and extend the deadline, it's obvious there will be no remorse on the side of these shameless idiots, no sense of understanding that the reason why the ban took place is due to their stupid behavior and reckless antics.

Chances are, they will still be the ones to be angry and crying foul at being deprived of their livelihood.

With that said, I sincerely doubt any long-lasting results would be achieved. Alam mo naman dito sa 'pinas. Leaders would always choose to do the popular option, instead of the right choice.

Manila defers ban on pedicabs
By Evelyn Macairan (The Philippine Star)
Updated September 13, 2010 12:00 AM

MANILA, Philippines - In the spirit of the holiday season, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim deferred banning “kuligligs” or motorized pedicabs from the major roads in the city.

In a statement, Lim said he moved the ban from October to December. The ban is in compliance with Republic Act 8749, the Clean Air Act, Lim said, adding that motorists have been blaming these vehicles for the congestion in certain parts of Manila.

However, the mayor’s chief of staff, Ric de Guzman, said that even if the total ban would still take effect after four-months, they would already impose limitations on their routes.

According to Lim’s Executive Order 17, the kuligligs are prohibited from passing through major roads, particularly United Nations Avenue, AH Lacson street, Quirino Avenue, Osmeña Highway, Quezon Boulevard, C.M. Recto Avenue, Legarda street, Rizal Avenue and Jose Abad Santos Avenue.

By next year, only motorized pedicabs and tricycles registered with the Land Transportation Office would be allowed to ply their routes on side streets.

Those who would violate this law would be slapped with a P500 fine for the first and second offenses. A third violation would merit the impounding of the vehicle.

I suggest the mayor to shape up, a deadline is a deadline, he's a no nonsense cop before and should instill what is to the better of the common good. Let these operators cry foul, mauubusan din ng mga laway ito sa kakaprotesta. So much kuligligs on the streets that contribute to the worsening traffic due to their driving techniques.

Son of a bitch! Really? If these vehicles are to be registered with the LTO, then these drivers should also be licensed. The safety issues arising from the use of these "vehicles" and the liabilities therein are just too much.

For fun we should build motorized couches. If it was only worth the time, we should sue these things off the road.

What the hell is this? Is it legal or not? Is it safe or not? Is it emissions-compliant or not?
