'Kuliglig' banned in Manila streets

Manila, Philippines — The City of Manila has banned the three-wheel motorized pedicabs or "kuligligs" from operating in the city, starting October 1.
"Kuligligs," operating with temporary permits, are subject of several complaints which have reached the city government, prompting Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim to issue Executive Order 16.
Since the motors used to run the "kuligligs" are not mechanically designed, powered, and intended for land use, these cannot be registered with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) nor with any government transport-regulating agency. With no LTO registration, the gas emissions of the "kuligligs" cannot be determined in accordance with the Clean Air Act.
By banning the "kuligligs," Lim said the city government hopes to lessen air pollution and help solve traffic problems.

September 9th, 2010 07:49 PM #72Most of those kuligligs were purchased under terms. May utang pa yung mga operators niyan. Tsk tsk tsk. Serves them right though.

I hope he can. After allowing the hostage taker's brother to "negotiate"("'Tol, di pa binalik yung baril ko!") and then ordering the arrest ("Posasan mo iyan at idala sa Tondo") that led bloodbath in Luneta Bus Hostage incident, he needs some good PR for a change.

Last edited by shakatak70; September 11th, 2010 at 06:37 PM.

masyadong small time yang operator ng kuliglig.... pang kape lang ng pulis sa kanto or manila trapik enforcer yan.
gusto ni Lim yung gaya sa pagkapanalo niya dati sa sweepstake... di halatang lagay kasi lumabas ang number niya 'ika nga ng kano "what a coincedence". That was during na si Lim yung NBI director at ini-imbestigahan niya yung PCSO at that time. Tapos nun ala na yung imbestigasyon... :attack:
Buhay na buhay ang BGC this evening. Bukas halos lahat ng restaurants. Sabi pa nung isang cashier...
Traffic!
